is there ever going to be a decent Chaka and/or Rufus compilation released? that's about the extent of my interest in either and what's available just doesn't cut it.

It's surprising that there isn't a definitive Rufus and Chaka Khan compilation by now.It would be easy to compile a great 2-disc set.The one that's out there now is a cheap, useless compilation that's missing so many good songs.

Hell, thats what got me to buy her discography in the 1st place nod that Epiphany shit ain't enough, and don't even get me started on the "Rufus" compilation disbelief

Its a steal, really. She has a limited discography and 95% of them are filler-free.

Yeah, that Rufus compilation is a joke disbelief a cheaply packaged set that was hastily thrown together, leaving out many essential songs.Rufus and Chaka deserve better than that.

doubtful. i can only take that bleeting-trumpet tone of her voice in small doses.

I don't know if I would necessarily call 22 albums (all on CD) a limited discography.

It is, comparing to her peers coupled with the fact that ALL of her stuff are easily accessible, it is nod

But, most of her peers (Aretha, Patti, Tina, Diana, etc.) have been in the business longer than she has. If you think about it, most of the black women who came on the scene around the same time as Chaka did haven't recorded albums in years or very sporadically. Other than "Chaka Khan" and "Camouflage", all of her stuff has been very accessible on CD.

I'm saying that anybody who seeks to complete his Chaka Khan collection can't pull the "hard to find" excuse because her discography is accessible.

In my case, it took me a week to collect all of her stuff(thank you, CDNOW). The only hard things to find are her work in other people's albums.

my order arrived in the post this morning & to say im disappointed is an understatement.

the albums are cardboard covers aqueezed into a larger cardboard sleeve,

to not even get the basic original packaging with the album credits is a really poor effort.

I only bought this because my 1982 Chaka Khan album was in need of replacing pissed

Warners Bros. are so ineffective these days! mad They have the rights to all this amazing music, but they don't take the time and effort to remaster and package it properly! They've become very lazy when it comes to repackaging classic albums,or putting compilations together.'The Best Of Rufus' CD is a joke.

I have never bought anything from this series so assumed it would be like the cd reissues that Sony/Epic have done in the past.

...which is a good thing. You have fallen for the con that is re-mastering. It's stupid. Brickwalled, over-compressed clipped re-mastering is the norm...99% of remasters sound like shit.

Someone told me the same posters that came with some of the original albums are also a part of this collection? Is that true? I really wasn't expecting any fancy remastering and liner notes. I already knew this was going to be a basic reissue. Honestly, I'm shocked to find out they even went as far as providing sleeves and artwork for each individual album. I think I'm going to end up ordering it because I have a feeling it's going to end up being a collector's item.
