I've had this disc in heavy rotation for the last week or so and I honestly have never appreciated it more. Marvin's voice is in fine form and although he did not produce any of the tracks, he wrote and arranged arguably the best tracks on the album. Leon Ware, T-Boy Ross, and Hal Davis do a good job holding down the production, arranging and co-writes on many of the albums tracks. My personal favorites are of course the title track, After The Dance (Instrumental), Since I Had You and I Wanna Be Where You Are. The standouts on the album for me are Feel All My Love Inside,Come Live With Me Angel, Soon I'll Be Loving You Again and the masterpiece After The Dance (Vocal). This brief but memorable album captures the essence of everything the neo-soul crew has been trying to capture from day one. When you consider that Marvin's mistress Janice was the inspiration for this album and Let's Get It On and that their affair spawned the Marvin/Anna divorce epic Here, My Dear, you realize that not only were we blessed with Marvin's voice. We were also privileged to hear from the depths of his heart/mind/soul.

Yes,the many Marvin Gaye album's sti;ll live on in my disc turner as well.

it gets much play in my crib."Since I had You" is my cut.Diana Ross's Brother helped alot on the album as did Leon Ware with the WAH,WAh going on.Berry Gordy&Hal Davis.

It's absolutely brilliant.

You guys are in for a real treat this year.The 'I Want You' CD is being re-mastered as we speak,and it will now be an expanded 2-CD set.It will include rarities,outtakes,alternate versions,the works! I'l let you knwo when I find out the exact release date.

i don't think so. i wasn't familiar with mr. gaye's version before i heard madonna's. her version is great. it's just a very different interpretation. i can see why soemone familiar with the original wouldn't like it, but it really isn't bad at all. i love it.

Shit--no offense to Marvyn but Madonna and Massive Attack tore I Want You the fuck up. One of her more respectable turns. Made me go out and get that Something To Remember becasue of that one. Plus the video WAS jammin. Clawing that concrete with her nails etc...lookin very very good etc.

Madonna's version of "I Want You" is one of her most beautiful songs. The singing, orchestration and programming are all perfect. I don't know what y'all are talking about. It's one of her best! Hearing her do it made me a fan of that song.

I don't feel anything when I hear Maddy's version,,,no emotions and no passion in her version. Hell,,the video saved that song. Maddy is cool BUT remaking other folks will bring her down ander the hills. Faith Evans teared Madonna's version down when she covered "Love Don't Live Here Anymore", Faith def captured Rose Royce's essence unlike Maddy.

Maddy should stick with the originals and stop remaking becoz like I said she add nothing matta o' fact she ruin them.

Actually, she doesn't. The hype is a nice bonus, but I was referring to her singing voice. I don't know what you're on about now...

Growing up on Marvin He is one of those Artists it's hard too Cover anything He did IMHO.
