Luther's voice was a tad bit "rhapsy" in his early recordings. All of there voices is raspy. But Teddy's voice to me is more raspier. I'll agree to disagree with U. I just see more similarity in Luther. Because his voice was very soulful more so then Teddy's.Jaheim has a soulful voice to me. Plus Jaheim was a huge Luther fan...He idolized him... I get ya. I just have never heard anyone compare him to Luther. Maybe it is the "thug" persona that he originally came out with that made me never compare the 2 of them. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

U wouldn't think he would be into Luther. Because of that thug Persona. But he is. He has done his homework on singing. U hear it in his voice. He has an old man soul to him. I agree. If there's anyone who should record a Teddy Pendergrass tribute album,it is Jaheim. He sounds so much like Teddy.

His tone is similar to Luther in some ways but songwise and as an artist, his similarities to Teddy are far more numerous and undeniable.

BlaqueKnight said: Tonewise, Jaheim is this generation's Teddy Pendergrass. (or as close as they are gonna get) He's one of the few singers out now who sounds unmistakeably like a black man and isn't singing in some whiny-assed Usher/Omarion tone.
You don't hear voices like Jeffrey Osborne, Barry White, James Ingram, Larry Graham, Freddy jackson, Alexander O'Neal, Issac Hayes, David Ruffin, Miles Jaye, etc., etc., etc. in today's R&B music. There's Anthony Hamilton and Jaheim and maybe a few others that fly very low on the R&B radar like Anthony David and Wade O. Brown. Where's this generation's Christopher Williams? The R&B baritone has gone the way of the R&B band. Smh. I prefer Raheem DeVaughn over Jaheim concerning today's music. Jaheim is okay, he can carry a note, but he just doesn't do anything for me. Your opinion. Jaheim doesn't even come close to the passion and force that Teddy's voice had. To me, Jaheim isn't even in Teddy's league. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Jaheim just bores me. To me he's along the same lines as Lyfe Jennings. If they calm down and just sing normal they would be okay in my eyes, but until then, I don't care for neither of them. But like I said, it's my opinion and you love Jaheim so that's still cool. No problem here. [Edited 2/19/10 4:30am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I think Raheem has a great voice. I haven't heard his first CD but the second one, except for a couple of songs, sucked. I think he was trying too hard to sound contemporary. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
