That is one of my favorite albums
every song on there is an instant jam (minus the weak ballad) is the 2nd album as funky? i heard a few ballads from it and wasnt impressed. You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

I caught them live a few times in the 80s.

Somebody finally uploaded... ...The Note! Music for adventurous listeners LIVE???? I woulda KILLED to have seen em. Got to see Chuckii open for Janet on the 1814 tour (with Rex as 'Musical Director'.....guess that was as close as we got to this top tier funk out West. And Minne,,,,no the second album wasn't as hard....but still had Jams ("The Note") among them. "Better Wild" is another solid JAMMM...and the inspiration for Chuckii's track of the same title (and shockingly even BETTER song) on his second album.) tA Tribal Records Funk Is It's Own Reward

the music on the note is off the chain
i just wish the in your face vocals from the first album were present. You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

Worth notice...."The Note" is (I believe) the only funk jam about suicide. Funk Is It's Own Reward

Wrong Bar-Kays - Gina is also about suicide though i wouldnt consider it as funky as the note. it still counts. You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

They were a tight band but for some reason a large portion of their set consisted of Prince/Time tunes. Another one from that album... ...Baby Be Mine Music for adventurous listeners tA Tribal Records "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I think at that time he had a LP waiting for release while he was with Barry White's production co.. He did do some work on Kiddo LP during that time if I'm not mistaken.

Correction the Kiddo LP Action was released in'84,
the song he co-wrote with Tease is 'Action Speaks Louder Than Words'. [Edited 2/7/10 20:02pm]

There had to be something there, to get the Maestro's attention. He and Barry hooked up through Barry's wife Glodean. The Chuckii LP was cool, I dug Touch and Turned Away, and I like the music on That's My Honey, but the vocals are not on point.

Ever hear the "wild remix" version of that thing (8:20)? In fact, all the 12's off that debut were REALLY great..textbook for what an artist could showacse on "extended" singles beyond mere breakdowns & dubs. Funk Is It's Own Reward
