I just watch watched Prince at the R&R Hall of Fame. AGAIN!
1) That shit was just ridiculous, and I want to see him do that more often! 2) How I wish I was the one who held his back when he leaned back into FunK-da-monium! 3) Everyone of my friends who EVER sruggled to understand my complete and utter passion for him realized it that nite with that performance! 4) The outfit, the hat, the smirk and the sure fire pimp walk at the end just solidified his Royalness even more. I remember the ramblings here about that...him showing off...he brought the performance down....WTF! He amp'd that shit up X's 20! Sorry to get all off the subject but I had to add that because it was just that amazing to me. "A Man Can't Ride Your Back Unless It's Bent" MLK 4/3/68

Well she went to church near the end of the record too. That's where the "show off" part shows up. Patti's ALWAYS been like this. It's either you love her or you don't and if you don't, then that's cute for you. I know right. She does it on record why would live be any different? Hell they better be glad she is in her sixties or she would have kicked off her shoes and rolled around on the floor to boot ... without missing a note. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I agree that Patti can be a bit over the top at times, but she is the real deal. How many black female vocalists can you name who have almost 50 years in this business, are still selling out shows and who actually have a current record deal??? If folks are bothered by her over-singing, then go and watch some broad who doesn't over-sing or can't sing at all. Prime examples are Lady Ga Ga and Rhianna. These are the people you should be complaining about. These are the types of non-sininging hags who give the music business a bad name. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! and she still destroyed the song live at the BET Honors, now Patricia Holt fans - WHAT!
She is so overrated and over the top. All that screaming (off pitch) and rolling around and flapping her arms like a big bird in flight. I liked her better before the plastic surgery. In the group LaBelle her antics were a little more in check. "Isn't A Shame", wonderful. Just sing the damn song Miss Holt, stop all the over drama shit. Music Royalty in Motion

RnBAmbassador said: The main reason I do not like Patti Labelle as a singer was displayed by her on the BET Honors on Monday night. In saluting Queen Latifah, she sang one of the few songs by her I like, "if Only You Knew". She was horrible, all over the place, totally obliterrated the melody - it was a ship wreck,
She is way too over the top for my likings. Jasmine Sullivan, on the other hand was spectacular as she covered Aretha Franklin's "Rock Steady" when she saluted Dana Owens (a/k/a Queen Latifah). AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!!!!! Patti Labelle is nothing but a crowd favorite. I have never liked her singing. She has only one extreme...BLAST!!! When she tries to sing softly and pretty she goes into that little witchy voice that I cannot stand.
