“Catch a Fire” Celebrates the Music of Island Records and Its Founder Chris Blackwell SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2010) — The Recording Academy® Producers & Engineers Wing® will hold its third annual GRAMMY® Week event at the Village Recording Studios in West Los Angeles. Set for Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, days before the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast, this event honors excellence in music and audio, and the professionals who work behind the scenes to create great recordings.
As part of 2010 GRAMMY Week, the P&E Wing will be celebrating the music of Island Records and its founder Chris Blackwell, whose vision and commitment brought to the world the music of artists such as Desmond Dekker and the Aces, Nick Drake, Melissa Etheridge, Grace Jones, Bob Marley, Roxy Music, Cat Stevens, Toots and the Maytals, U2 and Steve Winwood. The special guest DJ for the evening will be Jason Bentley, producer/remixer/sound supervisor, and music director of KCRW radio. These things have a way of drifting into cyberspace as torrents (not that I'd post links here or anything...)
