Patrick Stump of Fallout Boy taking the Prince approach to his solo record..

Check out this video he posted on the front page of his site. He is a self proclaimed huge Prince fan, and according to MTV, he is writing producing and playing all the instruments on his debut solo record.

Im sure most of you will hate on him for being in an emo band, but 1) He Can Sing. 2) He is talented as hell. Im really looking forward to hearing this record

I didn't know about Patrick until I got into Gym Class Heroes a couple of years ago

Nothing official about FOB being done, but Pete Wentz has hinted around it many times recently. My guess is they are done for a while, but will probably do something in the future.

Im glad you guys like it. Too many pop artists get typecast. Stump is a unique individual, with mad respect for Prince and other artists. Should be a bad ass album.

I mean to show how "lost" this generation is, remember when everyone knew who the frontman of a band was....better yet they actually stood out, did anyone really know his name till this post....i always called him "the dude with the hat".

I'm glad more and more artists do this. But it's not a new approach in general, but it can be for the artist who has never done it. George Michael did the same thing. He plays everything, and I think he's often overlooked for that front. But I'll give it a listen when it comes out.

Fallout Boy was a band I hated at first, but the more and more I heard from them, as they grew from the teenage angst of their early stuff, I liked. They were diverse, musically interesting, and Patricks vocals always stood out from the rest of the pop-punk bands. And Pete Wentz, while coming across as a complete douche, really does have an ear for talent, and his label Decaydence has some pretty solid bands signed to it. Panic at the Disco, Gym Class Heroes and The Hush Sound all have musical roots to earlier stuff. Panic being very Beatlesesque, and The Hush Sound reminds me of Billy Joel.

Not a huge fan of todays pop music, but I totally dig their label.
