Backstreet Boys and N'Sync (ugh) simply came around in a right time when singles charts meant nothing so kids were forced to buy the albums. Downloading hadn't completely taken off yet, and most of all it was the baby boomer generation coming around again and there were just a lot more teenagers in the world than 10 years earlier. Also don't forget the age of the 80s superstars was still very much alive in the late 80s and early 90s, so the more sophisticated kids were probably still very much MJ/Madonna/Prince/George Michael while the pre-teens went crazy for the New Kids. In defense of my generation of boyband fans, most of us didn't even know you could buy singles. It's not like stores ever carried them. Boy Bands stunk up the charts for too damn long--we sure don't need a return of Middle-aged Men Bands!

You know, even though they're of different generations, The Kids are only slightly older than members of Backstreet Boys. Either the Kids started young or the Boys started old. What he said. Considering my own status as a devout Backstreet Boys fan, I've got nothing but respect for the Kids. Never in a MILLION years would I have thought it. I'm looking out my window to see if any pigs are flying by... By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

For those of you giving us a hard time for digging these dudes. If you were a fan back in the day, you understand why we give these guys props today.
For me, when adult problems becomes too much to deal with, I'll play some New Kids and escape in my memories of being a teenage fanatic. It was a great time in my life with my friends. I associate them with a happy place.

Didn't like them back in the day (didn't hate them either) but I do like their old songs now. Definitely miles better than BSB & NS. But my favourite boybands were Duran Duran and I would rank NKOTB a far-behind second tied with East 17
