I was a NKOTB lunatic when I was a teenager. I have great memories of stalking them and sneaking backstage.

I still dig them for the nostalgia and saw them in concert last year and they rocked the house.

I'd be so down for a NE & NKOTB tour. Bring it!

I saw them in concert last January and I have to say it was one of the most fun big arena shows I've ever been to.

When they were on Oprah the next year, the audience was acting so out of control that she threatened to kick them all out. She kept yelling at all the girls b/c they wouldn't stop screaming while she was interviewing them. I will never forget that.

So crazy that I can remember that so well and I can't remember something I did last week.

See I don't care what the sales stats say, NKOTB were a bigger teen phenomenon than any of the white boy bands after that.

Backstreet Boys and N'Sync (ugh) simply came around in a right time when singles charts meant nothing so kids were forced to buy the albums. Downloading hadn't completely taken off yet, and most of all it was the baby boomer generation coming around again and there were just a lot more teenagers in the world than 10 years earlier.

Also don't forget the age of the 80s superstars was still very much alive in the late 80s and early 90s, so the more sophisticated kids were probably still very much MJ/Madonna/Prince/George Michael while the pre-teens went crazy for the New Kids.

What he said.

Considering my own status as a devout Backstreet Boys fan, I've got nothing but respect for the Kids. That said, I really wish they'd said something years ago about what a scheister Lou Pearlman is, so the 90's crop of boybands wouldn't have had to have dealt with his shit. But then, from what I understand their dealings with him were fairly limited, so maybe they weren't fully aware of what a slimeball he is?

In defense of my generation of boyband fans, most of us didn't even know you could buy singles. It's not like stores ever carried them.
