What I miss these days is the kind of escapism that bands like Funkadelic offered with their outrageous stage shows and their out of this world costumes and stage personas, their music seemed to present some kind of gateway to a parallel universe.....something I really miss in today´s music, without wanting to sound nostalgic because I was only a few years old when these guys were in their prime.

I love this song, the serious and sad lyrics and the whole delivery of it...the guitar solo, the whole vibe and how they sing such a sad song with so much enthusiasm and in such crazy outfits...takes a lot of courage to dress like that (or a lot of psychedelic drugs ).

Such sad lyrics, yet such a "funny" delivery.


For some strange reason, the bassline used by Prince for "Space" somehow always reminds me of the bassline in Cosmic Slop, though I know that diehard Funkadelic fans disagree strongly with me about this.

The promo video is nice, too...albeit a bit short.....man, I love those costumes.

Does anybody know whether the amphitheater in the promo clip is the same as the one in the "Wild Style" movie? Looks like it to me.

i used to listen to this track, well the entire album, but
this track in particular whenever i took a bath.

it's such an amazing album to listen to as you relax in a
nice hot bath, lol.

the track "cosmic slop" is one of my fav songs of all time

and that promo video is just wicked! i could watch that for
an hour on repeat



it probably cost 1000 times less than modern day "cool" vids
but it's without a doubt 1000 times more effective and cool
to watch.

watching clips like these, listening to albums like these,
i always get a bit sad because today's musical environment
is so much less than that.
