In some 90's way, it was music like this that, I think, spawned Neo-Soul. I loved that groovy yet laid back yet danceable type music in the 90's.

i love this album..."sweet taste of love' , "Love me today" and "Sending my love" all good songs.
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.
And I am

They also did a cover of Chic's "Good Times", if I'm not mistaken.

Absolutely. There were a handful of groups who had that sound. Soul II Soul had a couple of songs that lent to that as well, those being "Back 2 Life", and "Keep On Movin'". Then you had Tony, Toni, Tone's "If I Had No Loot" and "Feels Good", which I think incorporated not only the New Jack Swing sound, but had a bit of that "groove" feeling in it that Zhane, and company, had.

The 90's had a few strong moves in music. One being grunge. The other being really up front dance music like The Real McCoy, La Bouche, No Mercy, Ace of Base, Reel 2 Real, Crystal Waters, Haddaway, etc. Somewhere in the middle, there was a rising of that groove kind of music, like Zhane, Mark Morrison, Tonix3, etc.

If folks listen to something like "A Long Walk" from Jill Scott, or certain Maxwell songs, you can hear where someone like Zhane singing them would work. I've always loved that chill out groove kind of music.

You're exactly right...Also Groove Theory and Brand New Heavies..you're right,it was a certain tempo..a certain groove that was enjoyable.Zhane credits their time in Philly (college-Temple U) for being exposed to that sound and took it back to North Jersey
