It's a sad state of affairs when something like this can win.

Well, to be honest: i dont really hate the song. Its one of her more innovative, experimental efforts. Rather bleak and daring arrangementwise for such a mainstream artist (a bit of Missy Elliot, a bit of early Prince).

But what annoys me the MOST about her is that she keeps a certain IMO horrific way of singing in tact. A type of singing that seems to be loved so much on the org.

What kind of singing?: the idea that youre automatically a great singer
when you reach 4 octaves and keep wailing and whining certain notes.
Useless technique overshadowing authencity and integrity.

The horror started with Whitney Houston. Mariah Carey and Celine Dion went further on the soulless path. Beyonce nowadays thinks that what is singing about: it isnt singing, its 'posing'.

And its annoying as hell.
