U2 Fans Did Their Own DVD - And It's Pretty Good I ran across a U2 DVD the other day called PURE. It's from the two Amsterdam shows for the 360 Tour. Some fans got to noticing that there was a lot of other fan footage on the web, and decided to pull all the sources they could together to create a great DVD.
That's exactly what they did. From their site:
Except for the Intro, Major Tom, Kingdom intro, Breath, One (HollandLive!) and some essential other various bits and pieces we used most of Interference74's audio files. For DVD 1 we used 164 different video and audio objects, for DVD 2 we used 117 objects. The DVD is a mix of both dates and we hope you will get a great feel when you experience this setlist!! So with all those sources, and they're in at least 720 HD, from the audience, they edited together a multicam shot of the concerts, and made two wonderful DVDs. Part 1, and Part 2. They have some decent covers made for it too, but encourage anyone to make their own. They also added this:

Material: HD download, edited with Magix Video deluxe 15 Premium, re-encoded with Nero 9, added menu > DVD > YOU!> your friends! Don't sell this dvd!!! Make copies and give one to your friends! I wish Prince fans would conspire and do something like this. Fans of Nine Inch Nails recently did something like this when NIN announced they would, one time only, perform The Downward Spiral in full, front to back. I think someone posted about it. I downloaded that NIN DVD, and it was spectacular. Sure the audio was audience, but the vevnue was a small hall, so the reverb was fantastic. The U2 DVD is pretty good. I watched the live simulcast on YouTube when it aired from Los Angeles. The set alone was intriguing enough to watch the whole show. This fan made DVD is a true testament to a fan's love of their musical heroes. It's not about changing your favorite color, or lifting a song title as a username. It's about doing something by the fans, and for the fans. I wish folks had gotten together for the 02 shows and done this. What a mighty DVD that would have been. Freely traded, shared, and enjoyed, taking nothing out of Prince's pocket. Oh, here's the setlist for U2 that night:
01 - ArenA 02 - Intro Kingdom - Breathe 03 - No line on the Horizon 04 - Get on your boots 05 - Magnificent 06 - Beautiful Day 07 - Mysterious Ways 08 - Elevation 09 - Desire 10 - I still haven't found what I'm looking for 11 - Stuck in a moment 12 - One 13 - Unknown Caller 14 - Until the end of the world 15 - Unforgettable Fire 16 - City of blinding lights 17 - Vertigo DVD 2: 01 - I'll go Crazy-Remix 02 - Sunday bloody sunday 03 - Pride 04 - MLK 05 - Walk on 06 - Tutu speech 07 - Where the streets have no name 08 - Bad 09 - Ultraviolet 10 - With or without you 11 - Moment of surrender Two songs are missing from both concerts: "In a little while" and "Angel of Harlem" Sorry 'bout this, but we couldn't add them because of lack of decent material and maybe it was just suppossed to be this way.... You can find the DVD torrent on the site, or in the other usual places. If you're a U2 fan and don't have this, I think it'd be worth your time to download both DVDs, and enjoy it. | |
