The Platters - "My Prayer" Tony Williams' vocal on this one is what it's all about. The sustained note at the end seals the deal. Really lovely. Topped both the R&B and Hot 100 chart in the summer of 1956. The original by the Ink Spots is a little more carefree and meandering, but it's just as beautiful.

Looooove love loved the song eversince I heard it in the scene where Malcolm Little(Malcolm X) was making out with Sophia.
I loved what The Platters did with it, this is my 1st time hearing it. Funny that you described "the end note", the same way they usually ended their songs were legendary, who could forget their rendition of "Smoke Get In Your Eyes"?

For me, The Platters ARE the 50's. No other group embodied the ethos of the era like them. PIck any Platters track....and you are THERE. Absolutely iconic. Funk Is It's Own Reward
