Usher's 'Raymond V. Raymond' Due March 30

January 27, 2010

After mulling several release dates for his new album, Usher announced Wednesday (January 27) that Raymond v. Raymond will be released March 30.

The singer has already released several high-profile singles from the album, including "Papers" and "Hey Daddy"; although other Usher tracks have leaked recently, only those two songs have been confirmed for the upcoming album.

Usher is set to premiere the video for "Hey Daddy" Thursday at 6 a.m. ET exclusively on MTV.

Usher worked with a number of producers on the album, including frequent collaboration Jermaine Dupri on the track "Fooling Around." "People heard my songs [for Usher]; his album is coming," Dupri told MTV News, adding that he didn't know if Usher would be back in the studio before the album's release. "I don't know yet. His album date is set. I doubt you'll get new records. You're gonna get what's basically there, but it's a solid record. His album is a solid record. People gonna love it."

Late last year, producer Bryan Michael Cox spoke to MTV News about working with Usher on the album. "I think Usher is in a place where he really wants to express what's going on in his life, as any artist would," Cox said, referring to Usher's divorce from Tameka Foster-Raymond. "All the greats did it. Marvin Gaye did Here, My Dear. All the greats express where they are personally."

In the weeks leading up to the album's release, Usher has a number of appearances lined up, including the Grammy Awards on Sunday, where he will pay tribute to Michael Jackson. He'll also perform at halftime of the NBA All-Star Game on February 14 and at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Nah, couple of other people have done the same. I remember an article just a month or six weeks ago about Usher, and that his album was pushed back to a March release date. Even then, people were poo pooing him and not caring about any future music from him. I think this thread is just echoing that a bit.

That marriage to Tameka put the nail in his coffin. Kanye will make a comeback before Usher and his massive and undeserved ego.

Oh please, that's a whole new thread: Who Has The Bigger Ego: Kayne or Usher?

Kayne is dating some wacko chick that he's on again/off again with. She's like his barbie doll or something. It's just weird. Even his mama dying didn't change his attitude.

Usher...well, who cares anymore. The only reason Confessions got attention is because of who he was talking about in it. We ALL know who it was, and even she commented on it at times. It was scandal and gossip, not talent that sold those albums.

That whole you cared enough to reply thing is junior high.
Amber Rose-Kanye's arm candy-looks like a damn alien. I am willing to bet if his mama was alive, she woulda put a stop to that just like Usher's mom made her kid see reason over Tameka.

Here I Stand was weak and the first two singles sound awful to me. His first four albums were great. What happened?

Not to high jack the thread, but people handle death in different ways. Everybody doesn't go into hiding, grieve, cry out all their pain, go to a shrink and then slowly come back to life, some people react the opposite and go off tangents because they DON'T ALLOW THEMSELVES TO GRIEVE..which is the case with Kanye. He kept working and didn't chill out of the limelight for a while...he pushed his feelings into a corner and went about life, only it made him an even more bigger asshole than he already is. So until he takes a break and really grieve his mother, then his shananigans and odd charades with that dog on his arm aren't going to end.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I liked Here I Stand immediately but it got old quick. Like I think I heard the leak, and by the time the CD was out I did not care.

Raymond V Raymond sounds like the divorce papers for him and 'Meka. In that case, old boy should do the cover of "She's Got Papers on Me" that my crazy uncle Teddy would go around singing at the top of his lungs at 3 am when he had too much hooch.

That's exactly what it sounds like. It's going to be another fucking Confessions type thing. Whining and complaining about mama, Meka, and whoever.
