No panic. Why don't you pick the best tracks from each of the three mixes and call the mix Casserole! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

No panic. Why don't you pick the best tracks from each of the three mixes and call the mix Casserole! Because that would be too easy!!! I've whittled it down to two concepts and I'm nixing the third. The third concept for a compilation was going to be all interpolated songs. I was going to call it "The Interpoloper". It was just too wide a range of songs. There was no flow. It was going to start with Amy Winehouse's 'Tears Dry On Their Own' and end with Joni Mitchell's 'River' (interpolating 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' and 'Jingle Bells' respectively). My other two mix ideas aren't as gimmicky. I just need to really make a final decision tomorrow. Ugh.

I've settled on my theme!!!
My other rejected mix idea was going to be called "Lostless" and would have been songs inspired or referenced by the tv show Lost, but never used in the actual programme to date. It was going to open with 'Blue Jay Way' by The Beatles and close with 'The Kiss' by Judee Sill... 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes' by The Platters was gonna be in there too. Anyway... I'm assembling my mix right now. I've got twenty songs that I've got to whittle down. It's going to be a history lesson. I want to capture a moment in time that was reflected in the age's music, but is rarely acknowleged. Campy. Trashy. Depressing. Silly. Odd. Touching. Inspirational. I hope you all like it.

Relax. You're early yet. ...Also, consider moving your liner notes up to the very first post in your thread. The way they are currently buried may deter folk from searching. Your mix looks intriguing, BTW. Can't wait to hear it. [Edited 2/21/10 20:55pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Forget it... I'll just post here.
Great theme idea!! and I love your cover art! Eighth Day - Sounds like the theme of some futuristic sci-fi movie. Her singing style is over the top, and fits the song well! Russians - I don't like Sting's voice, so I'm trying to get past it to enjoy this song...I can't. ... The Visitors - Seriously? This is ABBA? This sounds so different from what I've come to expect from them! I like it when the music really kicks in at the chorus. Are you sure this is ABBA? People Are Still Having Sex - Despite the fact that I've heard this before, I've never paid attention to the lyrics before. Very interesting song. It's kind of morbid and creepy. I like it. It doesn't hurt either that the beat is pure 80's gold Ask - Ooh, I like this A LOT! This song needs to be my life mantra I really need to start to exploring more of The Smiths music. Thanks for the reminder It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) - I always have wondered what the hell this song is about, but I really like the way it sounds all the same. 99 Red Balloons - This song used to be a favorite of mine. I've heard a ton of covers of it, but nothing beats the original. The whole idea behind the song is so bittersweet, and againthe bouncy 80's beat doesn't hurt a bit Two Tribes - Oh my...Me likes... I swear, some of these are the happiest, most danceable songs about death and destruction. Dancing with Tears In My Eyes - When this song came on, the first word that came into my mind was "pathetic". This one isn't working for me... It's Alright - Nice ending. I like that the closing song has a hopeful vibe to it. Any song with a handclap in it has a semi-celebratory vibe to it in my world. I also really like the last few minutes of this song. Really great mix! I enjoyed most of the songs and they flowed together really well I think! If you will, so will I

It was locked at the same time as it was unstickied. Maybe it was just too damned depressing! Yeah, I'm not a Sting fan either, but the song was just too indicative of the time period to ignore. The Ultravox song is kind of "blah"... I don't dislike it; but it's not a favourite either. Again, it was just too (lyrically) apt to ignore - and I needed a synth song to take me into the Pet Shop Boys song. Going from 'Two Tribes' to 'It's Alright' would have been as jarringly comedic as putting Morrissey next to that 'People Are Still Having Sex' song - and I didn't want to end on an ironic note.

I'm having a great time discovering new music. My selection is rather dull and limited and I've been trying to find some things I can really get into. Thanks! I graduated bitches!!! 12-19-09

This is EXACTLY why I wanted to see a Round 2. My own musical knowledge and tastes are FAR more limited than I'd like, and hearing music that other orgers around the world love has been an amazingly expansive thing for me! Even though you missed out on contributing a mix this time, stick around and drop us something for an upcoming Round 3. And please drop in to discuss mixes on some of the weekly threads. We'd love to hear your thoughts. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
