America never head strong rock bands from classic rock era

British Bands like :
Led Zeppelin ,
Cream,Deep Purple ,
Black Sabbath ,
the Beatles,
Rolling Stones ,Queen
are among the most influential
bands in Rock music.
even American act Jimi Hendrix had to go to
London to get big success in music world.
How come America never had bands of that status and most of the time copied British scene?

Strange though, all of those British bands were copying American blues!

Blues and Soul = Rock? All of them were fans of blues and early soul.

but give me name of one powerful American rock unit that can stand along
with these British bands ?

I'm only saying it's interesting. Part of what made them great was they failed at the attemt to do American blues.

But...I don't feel it's fair to put Jimi on that list just because he went to London. He was American, and was basically fully formed when he blew up over there. Of course I believe he loved those British bands, but he was not in any way inferior to them.

The Isley Brothers during the 1970s could. lol plus Jimi Hendrix was and will always be American, he was just more accepted in England.

Well those are some top notch groups, but there are some great American bands, too

Talking Heads
Velvet Underground
Ramones
Sly & the Family Stone
Credence
The Byrds
CSNY
The Doors
Steely Dan

And since you included Jimi, originally, how about some other solo acts?
Bruce Springsteen
Bob Dylan
Neil Young

Ndr i agree about the Doors
Ramones are more punk
Sly and the Family Stone are a funk unit
while the others you named are more country rock totally different from the classic rock era,yes Sly was from that era of what we call classic Rock but they are more soul funk

Of your list I am really only into Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, and I'd add the Kinks.

It's tough to top those bands, true, but that's only 4 bands. You list had 7. That is not really that many bands!

So maybe the very top tier of 60's bands is British, but they were part of the same movement, in the same scene. And that scene was really dominated & led by one band in particular.

I think at the next level down, it's a lot more even. Your mid-great bands, like Jefferson Airplane, The Band, Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers, Grateful Dead, Santana, Janis Joplin, Doors, Beach Boys are plentiful and just as good as those sub-Beatles level British bands.

Hellooooo Aerosmith ring a bell? How about Guns N' Roses? Hmm how about Boston?
& when it comes down to it- it doesn't matter where they came from. Music is universal. What connects to people connects to people.
& it's fascinating to see the strong bonds classic rock just happens to possess, uniting people from all sorts of backgrounds together with a common interest unlike no other genre.

My thoughts, it's rooted in the history of these United States. A lot of people in the U.S. either don't know or conventional forget the grief Elvis, Buddy Holly and other white rockin' rollers caught for trying copy or emulate anything associated with the African American culture. It wasn't pretty....

The long running feud with between Rolling Stones Magazine and Led Zeppelin was all about them not giving credit nor paying royalties to other people music they "borrowed" or stole outright. That's another conversation for another day..... smile

Britain never head strong solo artists from classic pop era

American solo acts like:
Ray Charles
Stevie Wonder
Prince
Sly Stone
Hendrix
Elvis
Little Richard
Michael Jackson
Jerry Lee Lewis
Chuck Berry
george Gershwin
Duke Ellington
are some of the most influential artists in pop music history.
How come the only great pop artist britain's ever released was elton John?
Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

maybe not, but that wasn't your question. it was whether there were any strong American classic rock bands. i'd say Aerosmith qualifies.
