Duran Duran update: New Album in 2010 From DD.com:
Duran Duran are currently finalising their 13th studio album, produced by Mark Ronson, for release in early 2010. Over the last thirty years the band have topped the charts around the world, with 18 American hit singles and 30 in the UK. With a global presence that guarantees them huge concert audiences on five continents, they have sold more 100 million records worldwide. The band’s keyboard player and founding member, Nick Rhodes, will also be interviewed as part of the Mobile Entertainment keynote session in the conference programme at the Mobile World Congress on Wednesday 17 February 2010.

And dumbass Andy Taylor left the band, so they're back to just being a 4-some. I'll still be ready for some new Durany music.

New blog:
A short one: Wednesday January 20th, the band returned to their London studio to review the tracks we recorded last year for the new album. We are due to commence work with Mark Ronson again during the first week of February. The backing tracks are mostly complete on fourteen different songs, I still have a little recording to do, but we plan to concentrate on Simon’s vocals through this next period. Nick x

there better a "band" on this album through the whole thing, by in large the fans rejected the last record for its lack of "a band" "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I guess the hardcore fans didn't like Red Carpet Massacre. But for me as a casual fan who just picked it up, I thought it was a great album. I knew their old hits from the radio but I wasn't familiar with all of their albums. RCM wasn't totally electronic, it still had band elements like guitars on it. For me, the sound was not so different from their older hits but was their sound updated and made contemporary. I know you have to please your old fans, but I hope they can keep pushing forward and be modern, and not just do the stereotypical 80's synth sound their fans expect.

FWIW, I'm a hardcore fan who absolutely loved Red Carpet Massacre. I think it's one of their best albums (and definitely the most consistently good record of theirs since the '80s ended). i liked both Astronaut and Red Carpet Massacre; they were very different but both enjoyable. I think I listened to Astronaut quite a bit more, though. * * *
