Eddie Townes Crazy- Yes I know he probably had no hit Yes I know his hair look like a mess too but this song is GREAT!! The album has some good songs on it. I uploaded my favorite off of "Best Friends" album on Total Experience Records. He got another song called "Best Friend" too. Anyone heard of him?? Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Yes.....Eddie was signed to GAP's "Total Experience" Label.
He has just this one project & then nada. The cover of the album was an ill-advised fashion nightmare LOL. Funk Is It's Own Reward

The advance 12 was artfully odd, too. The cover has him standing with a bass next to a giant transformer....LOL. I guess they were best friends?
The music is another matter. Not awful for it's time period & I feel sorry for Eddie....as his one big release he prolly hides in shame due to the VERY unfortunate cover art. Funk Is It's Own Reward

I did see that on youtube...that was ..inexcusable. The art designer know he was wrong and was out to get him from the start! I looked at the cover not knowing who he was, but I saw "Lonnie Simmons" and Total Experience Records and 1986.....I knew it had to be funky.... Straight Jacket Funk Affair

That's the same reason WE bought it back in the day.....some labels & producers were just ahh-toe-matic buys. Funk Is It's Own Reward

I have the 12 inch single for "Best Friend." It's a pretty good 80s groove, I think it's now considered a "lost classic" or one of those cuts you pull out when you want to show how "deep" your knowledge is.

I love those whimsical moments. "COME TES' MEH NAW!?!?" I would say when they try. dont nobody know nothin bout no ET. Shoot, I have found some of the best old school cuts that way..seeing who else was on the album or who produced it. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I mentioned this album years ago. Havn't played it for years though.
Eddie Townes did do something else though..... I swear I was the first one who noticed this, which was years ago now LOL (before youtube). I always seem to study producer/songwriter credits. I just luckiy happened to have both albums and suddenly worked it out one day that its the same guy. Took a while, but I did it LOL. Shame I couldn't really tell anyone, as nobody I knew would care The uploader of the video mentions "cross my heart" as his fav cut. Its by far mine aswell. Excellent track. Why he didn't upload it is beyond me LOL. Not sure if the album and track posted is considered neo soul, but its retro sounding and pretty decent if you like that sorta stuff (which I usually don't).
