I've always wished for a project between her albums with Leroy taking lead, like he did with Hope She'll Be Happier (amazing!), either with the band or solo.

wow the songs in this clip sound great, can't wait!

First listen to the album leaves me underwhelmed but I need to give it a proper two or three spins. This said...

No King of Sorrow on this one.

No Cheris the Day.

No Taboo.

I dunno. I'm loving it. And if the sax solo during "In Another Time" isn't iconic, I don't know what is.

I'm glad you like it. I'm usually underwhelmed at first listens.

I gave the album two more spins and I have to upkeep my opinion.

There are some nice, melodic songs on here but I'm fussy about production and overall sound quality.

For example: The Moon and The Sky could be a nice song, but the arrangement and production feels like a Sting's bathwater with a bit of British pop from early 2000. Her vocals are nice of course.

Soldier of Love - I really enjoyed it, although again the mix, the guitar riffs are a bit overwhelming hence annoying, especially when you insist on dragging the same loop for 6 minutes. I got the army theme after 1:30.

Morning Bird - the closest she comes to a well rounded song on this album. Again however, the intro and drums are meh. Again I like her vocals and lyrics.

Babyfather - I hate anything reggae. Personal preference however, not much else to say about this one.

Long Hard Road - boring, really, just boring. Maybe that was her idea of making us feel how looong and hard the road is. I don't like the fact she's going so acoustic again. So much guitar in everything. We've heard that, I wish she'd maybe add some of that processed 80s sound she used to play around with.

Be That Easy - again, boring, raggaish, sort of doo-wop, but not really. Nice lyrics. Vocals uneventful. Just as sleepy as Long Hard Road.

Bring Me Home - melorecitating is a no-no, but lyrics make up, interesting things vocally (the high note took me off guard though), this could be nice song too, but mixing again sounds like something recorded 10 years ago by Sting.

In Another Time - ufff, this one is nice, though she hops in on the doo-wop bandwagon 5 years late. It made sense for Amy Winehouse, not so much for Sade, I think. Still its a nice, melodic song with nice vocals. The sax on this one is not really iconic to me at all here. This song sounds like something written for a "Bridget Jones: Back to Black" sound track.

Skin - probably my favorite on this one. Nice chorus, less acoustic, a bit too happy and upbeat for my taste but I love this song for the "I'm gonna peel you away" part. Good!

The Safest Place - sigh, again a nice song, but everything sounds so Brit Pop, meeeh.

So this is my initial brief review...just my impression. Not trying to covince anybody, lawwd, I love Sade so much, but this is just not what I hoped for.

I hoped at least one song would sound like "King of Sorrow" (acoustic, but well driven and so mournful), "Somebody Already Broke My Heart", "Sweetest Taboo" maybe "Love Is" "Paradise" "King". And of course anything of my favorite album by Sade "Love Deluxe," anything....
I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

I like it. A lot. Is it another love deluxe or diamond life? No, but its just as progressive, introspective, and beautifully written (both lyrically and musically). I really enjoy all but one track and I've no doubt it will grow on me. And if not, I'm happy with loving 9 of 10 tracks. smile

Except for the "generic" part ( hmph! ), that's actually an accurate description of some of her tracks. lol But with her voice, I think those elements of her band is what I love about her music. "Sweetest Taboo" is a good example of those sounds.

I know this is kinda off subject, but I wonder if Sade has ever dated any of her band members? I always thought that she and Stuart Matthewman would make a good couple or Leroy Osbourne even. Not trying to be up in her love life cause I know she's a private person.

Don't think he was in the band but she dated her manager early on and when they split she was devastated. I seem to remember that in her first performance after they split she quit singing in the middle of one of the first songs in the set, left the stage in tears and cancelled the rest of the tour.

Maybe some of you Sade afficianado orgers can fill in the details on this. I recall reading it in Rolling Stone or something and feeling sorry for her.

Well, read my post as "I am too lazy to download". lol I don´t like downloading unless it´s something I really want and know that I can´t get it any other way or when I am way too overexcited to wait for it to be released. Well, i am excited about Sade´s new album, but not enough to bother looking for it online and download it, I guess.

Lee Barlett? I thought their first manager was gay? I know the same man that's the mananger for Tina Turner is the manager for Sade (Roger Davies?) I actaully thought their old manager died? Wow...I know she was married to a spanish film director for a few years. Her daughter is by a Jamaican music producer, etc. Oh well, I hope she and her fellow band members are @ a happy place in their lives. I hear tha 50's are the new 30's!
