The last time Whitney was in my province was around 1991. My sister went but I didn't.

The last time Whitney toured my area was in 1999.It was the "My Love Is Your Love" tour.Fans were sitting in their seats, waiting for the show, when it was announced over the speakers that "this show has been cancelled" I remember the uproar this caused here in the Bay Area, lol.Fans were outraged and the venue (Concord Pavilion) later sued Whitney.A local radio station was taking calls from angry fans, and the DJ had a message for Whitney: "It's NOT right and it's NOT okay!".
This was in her 'drug days',but that's no excuse.

anyway...I hope her upcoming tour doesn't have similiar problems.

Nah, if it was in '99 I was probably about to move to Cali or had just got here I've learned not to go to see certain acts out here because shit will pop off "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I saw her life in Munich in the 90ies....
It was a show of only 70 minutes with several costum changes and very boring....

Whitney Kicks Off "Nothing But Love" Tour Feb 8, 2010 Whitney Houston launched her first tour in 10 years over the weekend in Seoul, South Korea. 11,000 fans converged on Olympic Park to see the pop diva perform on the first two dates of her “Nothing But Love” world tour. The 46-year-old singer broke into a sweat as she ran through hits from her 25-year catalog, including classics like “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and “I Will Always Love You” to newer fare such as “If I Told You That” and “Million Dollar Bill.” She acknowledged her milestone in the music business. “I don’t want to tell you this, but I’ve been in show business for 30 years now. I can’t believe it myself. It seems like it was only yesterday,” she told her adoring fans. Two of the late Michael Jackson’s dancers are now touring with Whitney, who sang “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” and “The Way You Make Me Feel” in memory of her “dear friend.” Link

From the videos i've seen of the first 2 nights, that was the best - both performance wise ad vocally.
It seems that she's got a bit of a cold at the moment, in other video's you can see her coughing and drinking water inbetween verses/songs. I'm going to see her the back end of April in Newcastle, so hopefully she'll continue to improve. Here's the set list from Her 2nd show in Seoul. If i'm not mistaken, its the same as the 1st night, though I may be wrong. Seoul Night 2 Set-List 1."I'm Every Woman" intro 2."For the Lovers" 3."Nothin' But Love" 4."I Didn't Know My Own Strength" 5."My Love Is Your Love" 6."If I Told You That" 7."It's Not Right But It's Okay" 8."For the Love of You" (performed by Gary Houston to four-pieces acoustic band) (costume change) 9.Video Montage on screen with "One Moment in Time" 10."Queen of the Night" (performed by two background vocalists) 11.Background vocalists introduction 12.Acoustic Love Song Medley: •"Saving All My Love for You"•"Greatest Love of All"•"All at Once"•"I Learned from the Best" 13.The band introduction 14."I Love the Lord" 15.Michael Jackson tribute: •"Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" & "The Way You Make Me Feel" (she just sang song-titled parts respectively)•"Missing You" 16."I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" 17."How Will I Know" 18."I Will Always Love You" Encore•"Million Dollar Bill" (Freemasons Radio Edit)

Lately I've been thinking that Whitney's comeback has already come and gone. I guess not. I hope she does well on the tour. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

She cancelled her NZ show...lucky I didn't have tkts.
After initially snubbing Perth for New Plymouth, Whitney Houston has now cancelled her one-off Taranaki concert due to a dispute between the promoter and the venue. She had been scheduled to play on March 6 at the TSB Bowl. In a press release issued today, promoter Andrew McManus said: "Whitney (Houston) and Andrew McManus are extremely sorry to have to disappoint all of Whitney's many New Zealand fans on this occasion." The show was announced two weeks ago after she cancelled a Perth concert scheduled for the same night. However, it appears Houston will now be performing at The Plenary in Melbourne instead.

N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

OUCH at this review!
A review from a concert goer last night: "So let me tell you about Whitney Houston's concert in Osaka (the first one, February 17. I'm not sure she can perform again tomorrow; she looked pretty exhausted even when she first showed up on stage last night). In short, it can be described like this: less than 90 minutes of panting, sniffling, talking (more or less coherently) in a very hoarse voice, disappearing from the stage for long periods of time, drinking water, and pathetic attempts at dancing, all interrupted by very very short musical moments. And I mean VERY short. And very BAD. But I learned a lot of useful things: Whitney loves us, she loves Jesus, she believes that there is only one god no matter how we name him (aren't you just amazed by the originality and depth of this thought?), and she is allergic to mangoes. Of course, the climax came at the end of the show, when she made one more bad choice: she tried to sing "I Will Always Love You". A brave choice, actually, coming from a person who could not sing for 20 seconds without panting and who would definitely not pass the American Idol auditions. She realized it was a bad choice mid song, right before the well-known "I will always love you" line, and she stopped. To inform us that she had broken a nail. I quote: "See how hard I'm working for you guys", she said, biting the afore-mentioned fingernail. I guess in any other country but the kind and polite Japan she would have been pelted with rotten eggs. Even in Japan, we heard the fearless voice of an old lady: "Come on, sing now!" Of course she did not. Because it was obvious she couldn't. And the entire Osaka Jo Hall (several thousand people) had just wasted their money, on tickets which were not cheap at all. If I were her friend, I would probably feel sorry for her. But I am not her friend, and I only feel sorry for the money I spent (I could have bought the National Geographic complete collection, the deluxe edition and still have enough for a dinner with my husband!) and for the time I could have spent watching soap operas on TV or sleeping. Or thinking about the glorious fall of the City of Byzantium. Heroic. Impressive. Very much unlike a hoarse lady who steals money from honest working people under the pretense that she can entertain them."

I've been shocked at how pitiful her voice has been. That gorgeous quality to her voice, regardless of range and power has evaporated. She has to be dead broke to put herself through this humiliation.

Why does she have a guitar in that photo? Does she play guitar? I've never heard of her playing guitar. Why do people keep taking pictures with guitars when they don't play guitar? "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Whitney's labour of love
WHITNEY Houston knows how to win a fight. But, tonight at Saitama Arena, near Tokyo, her foe is proving to be a formidable challenger. Houston, a superstar who triumphed over an abusive marriage and drug addiction, is battling an air conditioner. “I can’t do air conditioning," she explains later, in a humidified dressing room. “It takes my top (vocal range) out." To prove it, Houston unleashes a high note, which, minutes earlier, a cooling system almost silenced. “It’s back now because there is moisture and the air is warm. Oh yes," she grins brightly, “it’s back." Whitney Houston has also returned to centre stage, for the first time in 10 years. She has every reason to smile. Her latest album, I Look To You, and tour, Nothing But Love, are about strength, optimism, gratitude and love. “My intention is – I want the people to feel that it’s coming from my heart," Houston says. “At one point in time, I almost decided that I didn’t want to be in it anymore. “The music had changed, the industry had changed, the quality had changed. And I didn’t like it." However, Houston felt encouraged by two things – supporters pleading for her to get back in the game and a new generation of powerhouse singers. “Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce – they stirred my curiosity about coming back and making a record. But that’s only one part of the industry," Houston says firmly. “To actually sing, perform and have people come to hear a real voice, a God-given gift, is really important to me." Houston pulls no punches in her opinion of how the game lacks quality. “It’s almost like we were dealing with an industry that had turned to soft porn," she says. “Instead of listening to a voice, an instrument, a gift from God, we had to watch people take off their clothes constantly. It left nothing to the imagination, nothing you could long for. You couldn’t say, 'Oh, that song, that melody, that voice'." She does not name the offenders, but in citing Aguilera, Hudson and Knowles as inspirations, her hit list is obvious. There is one polite request for this interview: no personal questions, please. Houston feels she gave everything about her emotional torment with former husband Bobby Brown, and their drug dependence, to US broadcaster Oprah Winfrey last year. Houston feels nothing but love on this tour. Backstage, it is free from drama, extravagance and hangers-on. Whitney’s older brother, Gary, is a backing vocalist on the tour. His wife, Patricia, co-manages Houston. “It keeps me happy, supported," Houston says. “I don’t have the weight of bull.... for lack of a better word. “I don’t have the worry about marriage and this and that. As you become older, you have the wisdom to know the difference." Houston says family and faith are the reasons for her renewed success. “My faith in God is true to me. It helped me in my life," she says. “Everything else I could have experienced failed. Marriage, whatever else I’d been doing, failed. It was not solid. "But my faith stayed solid. It helped me get through tough times." Those trials and how Houston overcame them, are raised, lyrically, in the tour’s opening songs, For The Lovers, I Look To You, and Nothing But Love. Houston’s show is divided into acts – vibrant new cuts, snapshots from the past decade, acoustic versions of her power ballads, a standout gospel moment and dance floor finale. It is sexy and sophisticated, playful and passionate, classy and classic – a reminder of Houston’s power as interpreter and performer. Her voice – smooth, husky and, at times, raw and intense – is still on point. “It’s grown up," she says of her voice, which the Los Angeles Times once called a “national treasure". “It’s the voice of a grown woman that’s had ups and downs."
