This was a concert that was shown in the movie theatre in 1964, and that was the last time it was seen. It's on PBS, and it is the first rock-n-roll concert ever shown, and everything was filmed on the spot with no editing at the time it was filmed. This was an important time in American history, when Black and white fans of rock-n-roll were able to sit together in an audience, and enjoy the music of these musicians/performers together.

The musicians/artists includes Chuck Berry, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, the Supremes the Rolling Stones, Marvin Gaye, the Beach Boys and more.

I think this is a great show and DVD/cds to have as a collection. It shows the early acts of rock-n-roll, and you get to appreciate the artists of real music that influenced many young musicians/artists that followed in their footsteps. T

Sadly, I've never heard of the T.A.M.I. show. I loved Smokey Robinson's performance. I've never seen him get down like that. He always seemed like the cool and suave crooner.

I bought this show when it was initially released on DVD with the previously missing Beach Boys footage.

Keith Richards has stated that it was their biggest show biz mistake following James Brown.

OMG...I can see why Keith felt that way. I am breathless after that performance by James! Now I've seen footage of his early performances, but lawd have mercy, that just broke all performance I have ever seen of him. That performance took me by storm. James was phenomenal..no way can he ever be copied. He's already done, what could be done.

I can't believe that was the first time white audiences seen James Brown under one roof. That's what the lady at PBS said. Well, he shocked the beejeesus out of them that night for sure. What a performance!

I saw the footage a few years ago, the white folks went nuts when Marvin and James hit the stage, James more likely because of his dancing. And the Rolling Stones had to follow all of them (INCLUDING Chuck Berry, the Everly Brothers, the Miracles and the Supremes). BIG mistake, I agree @ Keith.
