Madonna,Madge,Mrs Ritchie

For some unknown reason Ive been thinking about Madonna,in one of todays tabloid papers there is an article about the executives at Warners asking Madonna to go back into the studio to re-record some tracks on her forthcoming album.

Anyway my question is,which is your favorite Madonna "era"

I loved her especially around the Erotica CD and the controversy surrounding her sex book and Justify my Love video

Much love yes Pochacco

from madonnarama:

Has She Lost Her Madge-ic?
Madonna has been ordered to re-record some of her new album - believed to be called Ein Sof - because it's too electro-pop and over the top. Newspaper reports suggest that Warner bosses felt she'd used too many synthesisers on her voice and morphed it to sound like a robot. Read on for full report.

From the Daily Mirror's 3 am Girls:-

It's a brave man who tells Madonna what to do but someone must have drawn the short straw. Record bosses at Warner Brothers have asked Madge to re-record a number of tracks on her new album. And it looks as if, on this occassion, she has been forced to obey orders. She has already flown her whizz-kid French producer Miriwais over from Paris and is currently preparing to go back into her Los Angeles studio for two more weeks of hard slog. We're told the main problem is that her new sound is electro-pop and bosses feel it's too over the top. Our source says: 'Madonna feels like she delivered her best album yet last week but the record label have insisted that the material needs to be changed. They really liked what they heard and it's another example of Madonna reinventing herself. But the problem is that it's too avant garde to be a commercial success. She has used far too many electronic synthesisers on her voice and has morphed a lot of her vocals to sound like a robot. There was even a 12 minute long track. Warner want an album which will primarily make money, not an album which will flop on the market but gains respect from the industry. She was reluctant but in the end she had no choice but to go back to square one.'

This is said to be one of the first times Madge, 44, has had to obey orders from the record company where she has been since beginning her career in 1984. Bosses are keen for her to finish her 10th album in time for the planned release date of April 15th. We revealed last week how she has already shot the art work for the album - rumoured to have the Hebrew title Ein Sof (Endlessness) - with celebrity photographer Craig McDean at a cost of £250,000. In the coming weeks the star will shoot the video with director James Ackerland, who worked with her on the Music and Ray Of Light videos. So could this latest album - featuring songs titled American Life, Hollywood, Easy Ride and Nothing Fails - send the Material Girl on yet another downward spiral? Lets face it, she already started the ball rolling with Swept Away lst year. There's still time yet, Madge!

My favorite Madonna era is the whole 1992 'Erotica/Sex book' phase.Madonna was SO naughty in those days! You couldn't pick up a magazine without seeing her on the cover. She was literally everywhere. She was bold and outspoken in those days, speaking her mind about ANY and EVERY topic. And she delivered her best album during this period, the amazing 'Erotica'.

In retrospect, though, this whole era created a minor backlash in 1993/94.I remember seeing ALOT of critics complaining about her antics, implying that she had "gone too far" and that her popularity was waning. But,of course, she turned it around and bounced back with 'Evita' and then 'Ray Of Light'.

Is this true, or is it more fabricated bullshit from the 3am girls?

Bear in mind that these are the same people who ran various unfounded stories about Prince last year e.g. he's looking to buy a house and move to London (an inside source told them), or they spin old information to make it appear as if it is thge latest news e.g. a friend told us Prince has a load of recordings that might never be released.

Sounds like a rumor to me. Is she not the owner/ceo, whatever, of Maverick? I thought Warner Bros only did the distrubution. Which makes me wonder what these so called 'vanity labels' are really all about.

Now before I get flamed, I'm a big Madonna fan, but isn't this whole 'electro-pop' thing a bit outdated. She needs to fuck around with real musicians not some techno whiz kid...real musicians can toy away with the knobs and buttons of PROTOOLS you know, to make her sound good...

She has always had too deal with Warners.they have been on her for so long it's not even funny.anyway I'd say 89-92 Madonna was truly a Fun time period.I don't know if I'm the only one who saw the Name Mrs.Ritchie&started thinking what does She have too do with Lionel Richie's Wife? but then I noticed the spelling.and truth be told Madonna no matter who She marrys is always Madonna.yeah I think She needs a New Musical Direction.I heard Celine Dion's new song&that is "Ray of light" Lite IMHO.time for a switch.

madonnarama now has a statement from Warner Bros saying that they made no such demand. that Madonna and Mirwais are actually just now doing post-production on the album and may have come up with some new songs.

My favorite Madonna era would have to be...hmmm...1989? I love her hair changes and the maturity of "Like a Prayer." It's tough though- there really isn't an era of Madonna's that I don't completely adore.

According to Madonna's publicist (Liz Rozenberg),Madonna plays alot of guitar on the new album. She also says that, contrary to rumors, the new album is actually "less electronic" than the 'Music' album.

Here's the full version of what Liz said:

Liz Rosenberg has spoken out about the slew of Madonna rumors this week.
Liz describes Madonna's new CD as "way less electronic" than the "Music" album. Click READ MORE to see what Liz had to say about the sound of Madonna's new CD & whether or not she'll attend the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday...

From The NY Daily News...

Madonna is in the studio this week, busily tweaking her new album - but not, say her reps, because unhappy Warner Bros. execs ordered her there.

Madonna's rep, Liz Rosenberg, added, "Certainly there is some electronic influence, but way less so than [the last album] 'Music.' Her voice sounds beautiful, very romantic and melodic. She plays guitar on a lot of the cuts." Rosenberg says that last Friday, Warner execs Tom Whalley and Jeff Ayeroff listened to eight cuts from the album while visiting the L.A. photo shoot for it. "They loved them," she said.

Meanwhile, no one seems to know whether Madonna really will attend Sunday's Golden Globes, as announced. Rosenberg said, "Last I heard, she's not going."

As of last night, reps for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which gives out the awards, were still saying she will be a presenter. One inside source told us Madonna has set her sights on an Oscar for the "Die Another Day" song, and is trying to do as much publicity in Hollywood as possible.

I agree with this one. Of all of her projects, I find myself revisiting the Erotica CD the most. There is some great material there, and I love the in-your-face attitude she had at the time.

I was somewhat surprised that a cookie-cutter song/video like "Ray Of Light" received so much attention when both the song and video for "Frozen" were so much better. In any event, she ultimately responded with "Music", which I felt was her greatest single release in years.

One thing I love about the 'Erotica' CD is the MOOD of it.The uptempo songs make me think of being in a hot, sweaty New York dance club...lol...the pulsating grooves, the heavy bass, the dramtatic synths,it's really a stunning piece of work.Songs like "Words","Waiting" and the title track sound intentionally cold and haunting.
