I can honestly say that I didn't even know who she was until Kanye got up there and blew her spot up. She should be thanking him actually...in an ironic way. [Edited 1/22/10 6:03am] I knew who she was before because back in 2008 she was complaining about joe jonas (jonas brothers) broke up wih her over the phone so she was blowing up when that happen , she started getting bigger in early 09 then the kanye thing took her to another level .

I keep coming back to this thread and people is still talking about him like this ban was true.. I'm like either they didn't read the People Magazone article I posted which clearly states that MTV reached out to him but he didn't respond or they just wanna run with the notion that he was banned It's like the media is TRYING to make this a bigger deal than what it is, it creates the insinuation that Kanye is an "angry black man" rather than telling the truth that either Kanye decided not to do it or hadn't yet told them what he planned to do and besides I hate telethons, I rather people donate to the goodness of their heart. The telethon that Kanye was a part of for New Orleans was another way to criticize Kanye even if he did, nervously, said what he felt. So therefore anything else that is either Kanye politely declining it or not receiving an offer is taken as "oh Kanye's controversial so they decided not to include him". The biggest piece of hogwash I ever heard. Even Kanye fans should be aware of the bullshit the media posts even if I don't agree with some of Kanye's rants.

I think damage control would be them saying ' there's no ban on Kanye" but to go as far to say that they reached out to him and he didn't respond seems like they did

Ultimately, I think it's all about the celebrities anyway--just another photo-op, so they may as well have used Kanye. Besides, regarding the Bush Administrations response to Katrina and Laura Bush's own words, I don't think Kanye's comments were that far off.
We didn't watch this at all last night. As I was flipping through the channels, I saw Julia Roberts answering the phones! And I briefly say Christina Aguilera singing.. I'm sure I missed some good performances and some my of favorite stars. I have mixed views about it. I read this biography about the Chili Peppers a long time ago, and I think they were really critical about some charity celebrity event. I think Flea said something like "millionaires against hunger." The implication was that so many of these people use charity events as publicity where they could easily donate a million each and every one of them. On the other hand, if the celebrities didn't do anything at all, people would be criticizing them, so they're sort of in this predicament. At the same time, every little bit helps, so whatever they raise is needed. We've already donated money through our work. And we'll attend local events with local artists--not so high of a profile. So maybe Kanye can do something else... on his own--even a silent contributer. Sometimes, I respect that a lot more than these telethons.

Maybe not naive, but wrong. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

This is so silly.
First of all, there are no awards presented on telethons, so I don't see why they're expecting Kanye to steal from Taylor Swift again... Also, I thought the Katrina telethon was one of Kanye's best performances of all time. He made a great point, and everyone who missed it wished they had seen it. If nothing else, Kanye is good for ratings...

Me too. And although I understand his sentiment about Bush in the Katrina fiasco he looked and sounded like a complete idiot when he made that inarticulate, incoherent statement. A fundraiser wasn't the time or place to make that statement which made the moment about him rather than the issue at hand. He coulda easily given an interview before or after the telethon and told a reporter how he felt, or went on CNN or anyplace to make a thoughtful statement. Instead he came off as an illiterate fool IMO.

Stupid. If someone wants to help, they should be able to and if someone wants to speak their mind, they damn well should be able to! Kanye should throw the towel in after this, why should he be censored everywhere just because he interrupted the media darling? Hopefully Chris Brown got banned too, he did way worse!

what do you know about rap music .... nothing...if you don't like the guy that's your problem...but don't have a go at his talent when you have no idea what he's doing as it's not your type of music.....move on..and get off the media wagon... Anybody can stand up and rhyme. A third grader can rhyme. Where's the "talent" in that? Kanye is an egotistical bee yotch and it's kinda sickening when people defend his juvenile actions. It's okay though...one thing about rappers is that they have their day(s) and they're never heard from again because anybody can rhyme. The Pastor Shirley Ceasar did it too and no one hears about HER bein' all disrespectful and/or egotistical in public. Kanye DOES suck. His days in the spotlight are numbered and I can't wait for the inevitable decline. Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.
