lets not forget that the master QUINCY JONES produced this mess.

WTF was that? That was 100 times more bad than I was expecting. Shame for Pink, Usher and Mary J. because their parts were actually good but Wyclef and the rap in the end was utter sh*t (and that's to put it mildly). Best part: Jamie Foxx saying wow after the video ended. Probably he was thinking:'Wow what garbage' lol

And yes Everybody Hurts is better mainly because it is a forgettable cover of the original and not an embarassing piece of crap as WATW25

Easily, the best singer involved with this remake is Gladys Knight. Did she even get a solo spot on this awful remake? Not that it would have saved it from sucking donkey balls, but at least some real talent would have been showcased.

This remake is probably the worst charity single I have ever heard.
The only remotely good thing about the remake is the fact that they kept MJ's parts in. And I cringed when Jamie Foxx did his Ray Charles impression.

I don't think there's been a thread about it, but there's one other celebrity-studded charity single for Haiti out there, also a remake of an old song ("Everybody Hurts")..
I wouldn't say it's awesome or anything but I think it's not embarrasingly bad either, unlike We Are The World 25:

The remake is such an embarrassment to the original. I couldn't watch the whole thing.

Did Janet sing VOCALLY, or did she just lip-sync to MJ's vocals? I hear sort of an over-dub on MJs vocals, but I'm not sure if that was Jan or not.

Even Mj vocals didn't fit with this piece of utter garbage, none of the artists involved gave an impressive vocals,,,,,They ALL sucked.

I think Janet's vocals were used in the same way, Paul MacCartney's vocal's were used in the recording of "Free As A Bird". During the recording of that song, Paul actually song with John's lead vocal's to make John's stronger,(remember the original was from John's cassette). I think the same was the case here. MJ's voice does sound much stronger on this version, that the original. Other than that, there was really no need for Janet, on this recording.

Yeah I think Jan might have had her vocals dubbed over MJ. Such a bad song

Talk about a bunch of no-names. Other than Barbra Streisand, that was just SAD.

And the rappers? WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?

If ANYONE ever thought a rapper was a musician, well just watch this trainwreck.

Maybe some good will come out of this slop, and people will realized just how untalented rappers are.

They sounded like total SHIT, and keep in mind they were "performing" in a song sung by almost entirely mediocre "singers".

Wow, that was just so, so, so, so bad.

Problem is with this sort of thing, because everyone has a single line to sing, and they're mostly narcissist cretins devoid of any real musical sensitivity, everyone belts out their snippet at a '10' - except for dear old Celine, who's permanently stuck on '11'. (I've always felt that surely a more humane alternative use for her vocal talents could be found - like as the basis of some sort of machine that helps emergency service workers cut people free after road traffic accidents or something.)

Put that collective screech on a light RnB track that never rises above a '2' and you get a completely flat result that somehow manages to seem overbearing and underwhelming at the same time. Like having a torrent of profanities hurled at you by a Care Bear.

Surely, just giving a donation is the way to go.....

I was just telling my wife something similar to this. For me the song never even reaches a heartfelt climax the way Stevie, James, and Bruce did it on the original. The remake is just a bunch of randomness. Funny. This time I think Q forgot to bring his sign about leaving your ego at the door.

Totally whack and awful. Even stellar singers like Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Hudson and Celine Dion couldn't save this debacle.
How the eff do you make a terrible re-make with Gladys Knight, Tony Bennett, Anthony Hamilton, Faith Evans, etc. present?
Well they did.
Lil Wayne, T-Pain and Akon on auto-tune (not vocoders as someone earlier said), and then the wretched rap segment.
What a piece of shit this was.

lol! They did Janet wrong but she looked kind of annoyed like she didn't want to be apart of it. So I guess they used her in a way. what's up with the auto tune?? I couldn't stop laughing from the time Janet popped on the screen, it was so awkward and we only saw her for a nanosecond. How did MJ get a second solo part?? wtf. Isn't this a remake. The rap is so unnecessary. Wyclef? sounded like a damn hyena. Faith Evens finally got a job. Good job to her.

OK, anyone that ever disputed with me or anyone else that musicians today don't measure up to musicians of the '70's or '80's can now officially admit defeat.

Hey im with you but of course when we say things like that people always fight back with "oh you have to search for the good stuff" get the fuck out of here, search, im not a talent scout, i dont a get a seperate check for finding good new shit. Or the other reply is "oh you just dont accept new stuff" really? from this decade i actually have embraced about 15 artists that werent around and have added them to my list of great artists, im just saying that the majority is still shit because no one is learning anything but "how to try and sell at the register" rather than learning writing and musicianship and the ability to sing properly and not just scream etc...
