Howard's a great vocalist. That's all I have to say on the subject.

Yesssss, BlaqueKnight! I agree that Howard is a great vocalist. I have most of his solo albums and just heard a new collab with Eddie Benitez called "A Child's Love." I guess you have to be a fan of a particular kind of music to enjoy a lot of his work, but I like ballads and lord knows he can work with them! He had a cd out last year called "If Only..." that I absolutely love, especially the singles, "Enough" and "Can You Feel Me." To me, his voice is just so clear and beautiful!
As for "one of the best..." everybody will have their own list. He'd be on mine.

Howard is overlooked & some of his work is spotty but his CD If Only from 2007 was hot & really didn't get any airplay.

That's the one I mentioned, Jboogiee. It really is a wonderful cd! Howard just doesn't have the proper promotion, because he certainly has the right talent! He had a beautiful Christmas cd out this year, too!

Howard is definitly one of the best vocalist out there. His vocal ability to wrench emotion and nuance is crazy. I have his last gospel CD and I love it.
Just listen to one of his classics.

His overlooked cd entitled "It's Time" is one of the baddest R&B/Soul albums ever made by a male vocalist. Great songs with great singing.

A friend of mine always says that. I didn't really care for the album, but most people I know love it.

This is a terrific and impromptu duet with Lady T on a classic Smokey song. Check out her question to him when he sings "Mis-takes, You know I've made a few..." - cute as hell. They have a duet on her Congo Square album that I like quite a bit, as well.

Personally, I preferred him in Shalamar; Howard and Jody's voices set the stage for one another perfectly - that was magic right there. It's too bad he did not seem to appreciate her as much as he might have.

True him a Jody's voices blended well together in Shalamar . Too bad they didn't like each other. They could have been the next Marvin & Tammi or Rick & Teena or Roberta & Donnie. His voice fitted well with Shalamar songs no matter what tempo they were in..
