Ashanti Finalizing New Indie CD January 20, 2010 Ashanti has been spending much of her time putting finishing touches on a follow up to 2008s "The Declaration". While the singer has been keeping much of the project under wraps, sources say a certain NRJ Award nominated DJ/producer could make the album. After collaborating with everyone from Ja Rule and Nelly to R. Kelly and Shyne, Ashanti is said to be working with David Guetta. Widely known for the mega single "When Love Takes Over," with Kelly Rowland, and the currently in rotation hit "Sexy Chick," with Akon, Guetta is rumored to have taken time out to work on a song with the former Murder Inc star. Rumored to be titled ‘Take Me To Paradise," the song was penned by "One Man" singer Tank. Speaking of the forthcoming album on Twitter, Ashanti recently said "U know I'm on my grizzzind! Finishin up th(i)s album!" As previously reported, the "Rain On Me" singer has plans to release her next effort independently after parting ways with Murder Inc in 2009. A release date has not been revealed for the project, which may arrive in stores mid to late 2010. http://singersroom.com/ne...id-Guetta- [Edited 1/20/10 10:10am]

You managed to overlook this entire paragraph of the above article:

I can't think of what she's done, I only remember her name. Weird.

Im actually looking forward to this, Ashanti is far from a great vocalist and i wasnt all into her early stuff, but she is actually smart business wise, which is why GOtti is saying they dont see eye to eye, he was ripping her off, and he is a criminal and she isnt down with that. The method Gotti was taking was not GENIUS, he needs to check himself, having a guest female on a track was going on alot at the time and she was the new hot one for the moment, case closed, i love how he thinks he was einstein of something. Lets see... 0 singing ability 0 stage presence Meanwhile we're shitting on Rihanna for the same reasons To me she falls under the "flavor of the month" category,,,,hot for awhile untill the next "new package" replace her. I was when critics made comparisions between her & Tweet when both of their debut album came at the same time,,,,how LAZY & DEAF are these mofos?

How's that possible? The name "Janet Jackson" is synonymous with flop CDs, I'm just sayin'. [Edited 1/20/10 13:51pm]

Just to be clear, someone that is synonymous with flop CDs would be the gal this topic was originally about. The Declaration (2008) - The album debuted at #6 on the Billboard charts, selling 86,000 units in its first week. As of 2009, the album has sold more than 304,034 copies in the U.S. Just sayin'

The fact is that no one is adjusting their levels to what things are gonna sell. Folks ITS OVER, the next Prince cd is gonna sell 200,000 the next Janet will do a little more than that, the next Ashanti will do 150,000 the Eve "combeback" will go in somewhere around 100,000, except it lower your levels of what you think sales are. The 90's are gone, the peak was 2000 and those numbers are NEVER coming back NEVER, no one is ever gonna sell 1.5 million in a day, artists will be lucky selling 1.5 overall of a blockbuster seller that has zillions of label $$ push. Its 2010, not 1999-2000.
On that note if Ashanti sells 100,000 on her own label she will make twice as much as she has made in her whole career. So fuck billboard, thats also gonna be gone soon "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
