I've had the 3 studio albums of Jimi's since the early 1990's and always loved them. Until recently I had never explored his posthomous releases. Years ago I read about the songs not really being finished and the were overdubbed by musician after his death so I dismissed them.

That was until last week. I heard about the forthcoming Valley's of Neptune and read up about the more recent hendrix family releases First Rays and South Saturn Delta and so decided to get those albums.

Anyway they are full of some absolutely wonderful songs. I would say in fact some of his finest stuff, Dolly Dagger, Room Full of Mirrors, Pali Gap, Power of Soul, Message To The Universe, Drifting, In From The storm and more, I also downloaded a few tracks from a box set, Cheroke mist, Somewhere, come down hard on me, all great stuff.

I have a couple of questions to the Hendrix experts, why hasn't the song Crash Landing ever been included on the Hendrix Family releases? And is the song worth tracking down.

Also is there any more stuff worth tracking down, any great outtake bootlegs for example that are out there.

Just my opinion, but it appears that you have the essential releases.

In general, anything involving Alan Douglas is a bit suspect.
The album Crash Landing (which includes the title tune w/Mr. Douglas as co-writer ), includes a guitarist, drummer & bassist who have nothing to do with the Experience or Band of Gypsys.

I will give him a bit of slack for his organizing some jams involving guitarists Jim McCarty (Mitch Ryder, Buddy Miles Express & Cactus) & John McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra) and Jazz organist Larry Young. The concept was commendable but the recordings were pretty dreadful.
