As barely anyone is actually answering the question LOL, heres a good clip of Mike performing with Patti Labelle....

Considering he was a last minute replacement, he did very well. Particually against someone as formidable as Patti Labelle. Michael brought it.

Patti eats any performer up LOL. You know Michael did good you just scared to admit it lol The duet they did though ("we're not making love anymore") was pretty bad. Barbra's version was much better.

Lemme just say this, Michael Bolton tried so hard to be "down with the brothers" after his failed attempt to be a metal singer. I guess he figured since he had women screaming over his pseudo-R&B material that he could actually take music that the Isleys did conceive. No matter what portion of it, what I do think is Bolton GOT what he deserved trying to get the Isleys' catalog after they beat him in court for stealing parts of their song. In my opinion, I don't think Michael and his co-writer got disrespected. Compared to the other so-called "blue-eyed soul" men like Hall & Oates, Michael McDonald, George Michael and the like, he was the only one who fake the funk.

Just my opinion. wink

And Timmy, I dont think Bolton was tryin' to be down with black people LOL. Sure he changed his game up after the flop rock album, but lots of artists change directions or try new producers/songwriters to get hits. Look at Madonna and Nelly Furtado for recent examples. Doesn't mean the music isn't still enjoyable though. Changing to pop/MOR is not exactly trying to be black is it LOL.

Bolton just found a formula and ran with it. It was gradual aswell, as he didn't suddenly become MOR, it took a few albums LOL.
