I found that I just don't really care for him beyond his 90s hits, and at some point or another I checked out the individual albums.

That being said... this disc is pretty much unfadeable:

1. Are You Gonna Go My Way
2. Fly Away
3. Rock 'n' Roll is Dead
4. Again
5. It Ain't Over Till It's Over
6. Can't Get You Off My Mind
7. Mr. Cab Driver
8. American Woman
9. Stand By My Woman
10. Always On The Run
11. Heaven Help
12. I Belong To You
13. Believe
14. Let Love Rule
15. Black Velveteen

[Lenny's hits]... aged better over the years than a lot of Princes hits have.

That's because Lenny made them to mimic already old classic artists' records.

Yes, dude is talented but i see where scriptgirl and other non-fans are coming from

He is talented but he has hit a wall just like a lot of
artists of the late 80's-90's not named Mary J.Blige do.

Love that one, but my favorite is definitely "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over." That was a stone cold classic from the jump. music

Everything about that song reminds me of Earth Wind & Fire.

I have to admit, I heard some obscure-ish EW&F song on the radio (somebody please tell me what it was) and it was clear to me right then that Lenny flat-out plagiarized it for It Ain't Over. And as much as I love the guy, I actually said out loud "oh SHAME on you Lenny!" no no no!

She hit her wall a couple of albums ago

You might be referring to "Thats The Way Of The World".

Although the song is not obscure.

Cause I just don't get it. I am not saying he is not without merit, but in the wider scheme of things, I'm not getting it.

My advice would be to listen. Attend a Lenny Kravitz concert. He rocks his guitar, sings and does it beautifully at times, and is a very good songwriter.
Start with Lenny's ballads and work your way up. See if you feel him then.

that must be the one (thanks cinnie) though it is kinda familiar to me. Hearing the rhythm guitar in those verses - it is quite the cop isn't it!

still I do think Lenny does his own thing with it, as have lots of thieves before him razz

He's incredibly talented, and I loved his first album a great deal. Are You Gonna Go My Way was a terrific record as well.

I'm a bit of a Lenny fanatic and I love 5, but this song...I really can't stand! Just long and boring to me. But I'm glad lots of orgers seem to like it lol

Lenny is cool. And yes he is talented.
I for one don't think he's matched Let Love Rule in overall greatness but I still enjoy of alot his stuff.
And I love Circus. 2nd only to Let Love Rule.
I know most don't like Circus but like Meloh9 said music is subjective.
Btw, I thought Love Revolution was a step in the right direction. Now bring on Negrophilia... cool
Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Yes, he is very talented and thanks to those who mentioned Negrophilia. Did not know he had a new one ready for release. Look forward to it.
