Best hip-hop album of 2009?

1. Reakwon - Only Built for Cuban Links
2. Jay-z - The Blueprint 3
nothing else is as good as these 2 this year

I received it as a birthday gift though...people know how much I like his music.

nod I'm glad it was officially released this year, so this is my pick for best hip-hop album of 2009. Still groovy seven years later!

The BluePrint III...not even close. Jay really killed it lyric wise on this one. Still in heavy rotation on my IPOD.

2009 was a terrible year for hip-hop.

OB4CL2 was good but not a patch on the original. And making a "sequel" to an album that came out 14 years earlier is kinda lazy IMO.

It's like it was just done to build hype since OB4CL1 is a hip-hop classic.

Then again, I guess Nas did the same with "Stillmatic" in '01, and that album was awesome (although again, not a patch on the original "Illmatic").

Oh, and agreed that BP3 was weak.

I liked Asher Roth's "Asleep In The Bread Aisle". It was nothing groundbreaking, but it was a fun album.

As I stated above, my personal favorite and , IMO, the only album worth spending money on in 2009, was Mos Def´s The Ecstatic but, that being said, I must admit I still LOVE Jigga´s 1996 debut album and listen to it regularly but haven´t really checked out his latest album because the ones before that one were soooo boring and empty, though he still has a unique flow.

What, in your opinion, makes it a "satanistic" album? I know you weren´t serious but still.....I often hear and read about those allegations and IMO, they are nothing but a promotional gimmick to stir some more hype.

So, are there really any satanistic messages in the lyrics? Why are those who say so so adamant about this?

i've always been a jay fan also, but agree alot of his shit CAN be spotty. i really liked this album though. every track is at least listenable cool. that being said alot of the songs up there have a real dark almost goth feel to them that i've never really heard hov do. it's different, but i like it music. run this town is a real interesting looking video (and rihanna = boff in it), but you can't say that it is not at all creepy. it looks like some devil shit lol. even the lyrics don't sound like your usual rap supremacy taking over kinda thing lol. then there's the whole illumanati theory that this kid at my job is uber sold on and is getting me there nuts. good album though i still think stoned thumbs up!
