For all the Motown songs that I know there are 100 others that I don't. For someone who thought he was a Marvin Gaye fan I've never heard these.
"Wherever I Lay My Hat" is pretty cool. The lyrics are pretty bold and arrogant... I guess the Temptations used this theme for "Pappa Was A Rolling Stone"...

Here's some fun factoids about "Wherever I Lay My Hat": Marvin co-wrote this with Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong and yes they took the title and based it for "Papa Was a Rolling Stone". Marvin & Whitfield/Strong later work together later in the late 1960s, that's when "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "I'm Too Busy Thinking About My Baby" come from. In 1983, Paul Young recorded his version and it actually went number-one in the UK so that gave Marvin his second UK number-one, this time as a songwriter.

Thanks for the factoid/tidbit! I just heard the Paul Young version. Really? That went to #1 in the U.K.?

Like "Dancing in the Street" (which Marvin co-wrote), remember the Bowie/Jagger version?
