The BluePrint III...not even close. Jay really killed it lyric wise on this one. Still in heavy rotation on my IPOD.

2009 was a terrible year for hip-hop.

OB4CL2 was good but not a patch on the original. And making a "sequel" to an album that came out 14 years earlier is kinda lazy IMO.

It's like it was just done to build hype since OB4CL1 is a hip-hop classic.

Then again, I guess Nas did the same with "Stillmatic" in '01, and that album was awesome (although again, not a patch on the original "Illmatic").

Oh, and agreed that BP3 was weak.

I liked Asher Roth's "Asleep In The Bread Aisle". It was nothing groundbreaking, but it was a fun album.

i didn't bump too many hip hop albums (or new albums period) this year, but jay's the blueprint 3 (even though it's all about devil worship and shit ) and mos def's the ecstatic are 2 i did and really liked. new wu tang (rae's, even ghost who's my dude ) stuff i've heard i wasn't feeling personally . weezy's no ceilings mixtape kicked major ass (for real ) to who said young money

i've always been a jay fan also, but agree alot of his shit CAN be spotty. i really liked this album though. every track is at least listenable . that being said alot of the songs up there have a real dark almost goth feel to them that i've never really heard hov do. it's different, but i like it . run this town is a real interesting looking video (and rihanna = in it), but you can't say that it is not at all creepy. it looks like some devil shit . even the lyrics don't sound like your usual rap supremacy taking over kinda thing . then there's the whole illumanati theory that this kid at my job is uber sold on and is getting me there . good album though i still think
