I last got a Greatest Hits cd of Neil Young from my dad, he said you beter listen to this one!

And I loved it!!! The man can play GUITAR!!!

are all essential Young albums, and Prairie Wind is a great recent one.

HUGE Neil Young fan here. I got hooked on Decade a few years back, and now own just about everything he's done, and see's him live every chance I get. Dude rocks.

I'm not a huge Neil Young fan, but I do like a couple of songs by him:

i'm a huge fan, own his entire catalog - he's amazing.

A couple faves are the Zuma and Rust Never Sleeps album. I also think Silver & Gold is a sorely undervalued record. Add the 3 acoustic songs Neil contributed for the CSNY project "Looking Forward" from around the same time period, and it gets even stronger.

Anybody interested in Neil and his music should read the biography, Shakey. Fascinating book.

Funny to think that, in his young days, he was in the same band as...Rick James !!

I never knew where to start with him. I know his hits as they are Canadian radio staples, but beyond that... I don't know what "eras" he went through, how his music evolved, or if he had a certain period I would care more for given my tastes in music.

The best place to start would be his recent Greatest Hits collection, and then pick up a few of his key cornerstone albums: Harvest, Rust Never Sleeps, Freedom, Zuma, After The Gold Rush, Everybody Knows This is Nowhere. He has some absolute gems, like On The Beach, that fly under the radar. Tonight's the Night is as raggedy-ass as anything that's ever been released, but it has an absolutely unique debauched vibe to it. His career is really incredible, and he isn't afraid to do what he feels is right at the time.

In terms of integrity, it's very likely that you could look that word up in the dictionary and find his picture there.

Unlike many of the musical gear whores in the industry, he won't take endorsements from equipment manufacturers but prefers to "buy with no ties" just like the average amateur musician.

Neil Young is an absolute God.

My favourite Neil track is Out On The Weekend from Harvest. It totally transports me to a whole other place.

Rust Never Sleeps is probably my favourite album. It showcases both sides of his style excellently.

I also dig a lot of his more recent work too. Chrome Dreams II and Living With War stand up amongst any of his 70s albums to me.
