all those 90s acts you can list had hip hop elements though! "Is My Living In Vain" by Xscape is them singing over a looped drum break (the most obvious hiphop production style) | |

I love this song All of them can sing. Oh this type of ballad was a must for many R&B acts at that time cuz it's not "too R&B" or not "too Pop". Just a soft, easy-to-listen tune that can reach to a wide audience. But, of course, their singing style tells you it's from R&B acts.
Yall talkin bout 90s R&B...I think, back then, we had a lot more R&B singers who grew up with church-singing. Think about the interviews-Q: "When did you start singing?"/A: "I started singing at church" or "I was in this gospel group" [Edited 1/13/10 0:28am] | |
