No, I mean the costumes made for the show. There's a feature, The Gloved One, on the DVD (at least it's on the BluRay), about the costumes. Most of them have been made, and MJ saw most of them. The "Billie Jean" costume actually had LED lights int he socks, the stripe up the side of the leg, and the glove itself. AMAZING shit. The "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" jacket had like 300,000 crystals on it. Ohh, I don't have the Bluray:( but I did see a video of the Billie Jean outfit online..Would have been just amazing to see him do it in that :O

Does the Blu Ray version happen to have the full performance of Speechless? He sounded so good on it

It looks like, according to the chart above, that the Costume thing is on the regular 2-disk and 1-disk DVDs, as well. Here's the crystal outfit. This picture doesn't do it justice. The black outfit is the "Man In The Mirror" outfit, and is actually a dark purple color. It had these layers of "pockets" on them, and the pockets were packed with crystals. It was amazing. The picture just looks like it's buckles or something, but it's SO not. Check the DVD for this: "Heal The World" and "Black or White". The HTW jacket zips up the back. All the beading and embroidery was done in different techniques around the world. Even the sleeves have different bracelet techniques and ideas. On the beige patch on the lower (your) left of the jacket, in red it actually said "Heal The World" in Arabic or some similar language. [Edited 2/1/10 19:16pm]

No, there are no extra performances. It's a lot of Behind The Scenes stuff, plus the full vignettes of "Thriller" and "Smooth Criminal" made for the 30'x 100' LED screen behind the stage. There is extra footage of MJ, but there isn't like a bonus performance or anything. The original movie is intact as it was in theaters.

Whoa thanks for the pictures/info ernestsewell! . Those costumes look so amazing . I really got to get a blu ray player .You must have a nice set up at home? I have a pretty bad TV, so in Theaters it was just incredible.
I really hope sooner than later they will release the full performance of Speechless(and others). They have hundreds of hours of footage, so I am pretty sure we will see some more

I have a 37" Vizio LCD that is just as awesome. Reread what I typed: The costume documentary is on all versions of the DVD, to my knowledge, so even if you have the regular 1-disk or 2-disk DVD edition (not BluRay), I believe that's still on it. Good stuff either way.

I and other fans expect Sony to release another edition of the movie in the near future to milk it for everything
There's performances of Dangerous, Will You Be There, and possibly Rock With You that weren't included "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Any footage of "Dirty Diana" on the BluRay?
Michael Bearden had said they were rehearsing it. |

Luckily I copped the UK release the day the DVD came out lol....although they recently re-released it with the original artwork.....was awesome to get the DVD since I don't even have a VHS player anymore to play my original VHS that I've owned since 1990! About "The Making Of Moonwalker" - don't expect to EVER see this on any DVD release. This program was made by the BBC. The amount of red tape and paperwork that ANYTHING BBC has to go through these days is unreal (and I worked for the BBC for a year, so I've seen it from the inside). The chance of that getting released is slim-to-none, IMO. If we could get a Captain EO release (in 3D), Ghosts on DVD, and the Bad, Triumph, and Victory tours, I'd be happy. But shit, we'll probably get 10 re-releases of "This Is It", and 20 more compilations featuring the exact same songs in different orders before any of that happens, LOL. Hell I'm down for a trip to Hayvenhurst with some of y'all. LOL. |

Yeah, there's no way they can include that special unless they work out a deal with the BBC which is NOT gonna happen. Quite honestly I'd be surprised if they could even find the master copy. I made a documentary about 2Pac for the BBC (spent a week in LA making it) back in 2006, and I can't even get them to give me certain videos and pictures that were taken. They "lost" an ENTIRE day's worth of photos, which was the day that I went to Quincy "QD3" Jones III's studio and interviewed him. So I don't even have any pictures of that day, and I don't have any of the video footage of me with Johnny J, who became a good friend of mine following that documentary and sadly passed away in 2008. Getting anything from the BBC is like trying to get blood from a god damn stone. And since that Moonwalker special is over 20 years old at this point....realistically it's just not gonna happen unfortunately. |
