Color Of Success vs. Daydreaming Which Morris Day album do you think was the best and why?
Color Of Success Tracklist: 1. Color of success 2. The character 3. The oak tree 4. Love sign 5. Don't wait for me 6. Love / Addiction or Daydreaming Tracklist: 1. Daydreaming 2. Yo' luv 3. Fishnet* 4. A man's pride 5. Standing on the line 6. Are you ready 7. Love is a game 8. Moonlite (Passionlite) 9. Sally Which one was the better record? I promise not to mention "Guarenteed" if you do. I would have thrown "Its About Time" in the mix but it only had about 4 or 5 new songs and the rest were from the previous Time/MD releases. I was feelin' "Two Drink Minimum" and "Aint A Damn Thing Changed". [Edited 1/7/10 16:41pm]

I'll take Color of Success. Only because of "Don't Wait 4 Me". Not to mention, we got to hear Morris' musical ideas for a change. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

My vote goes to Color Of Success. No surprise since I'm a fan of synth-funk.

I think "Color" is the better album.....but "Daydreaming" has the best single ("Fishnet"....esp the "big leg mix" from the 12). Funk Is It's Own Reward

I remember havin "Color Of Success" on a white tape with black lettering and playin it so much the words faded.... "The Character" "Love/Addiction" and "Love Sign" were my fav songs when I was growin up....

Is neither an option?
I saw this while listening to some John Coltrane which is probably fueling my current ambivalence. Fishnet was a hotter single. Music for adventurous listeners tA Tribal Records "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Fishnet is the best track for sure from either album... i'd have to go with Daydreaming. * * *

Color of Success for the title track for me. I don't particularly care for Fishnet because it sounds just like a bunch of Alexander O'Neal songs.

"Fishnet" is my favorite Morris Day song but "Color Of Success" is a better album as a whole. Andy is a four letter word.

Agreed. I dig Color of Success, Don't Wait For Me and The Character more than Fishnet.

'Color Of Success' is the better album.
I thought 'Daydreaming' was disappointing. The only song that I really liked was the slow jam "Love Is A Game".

I still like both albums alot, but 6 tracks only on "color of sucsess"? What was this the late 70's? No excuse LOL. Anyway I do prefer "Color of success" track for track, but then its only 6 tracks LOL.
And I liked parts of "Guaranteed". True his heart didn't feel like it was in it (everything co-written as opposed to self penned like his other albums for a start), but it had a couple of newjack bangers on it. "Who's that girl" is my fav if anyone cares LOL.

Color of Success hands down. The whole album was slammin. If i'm
not mistaken 4 or 5 singles were released from the album. As Soul stated,Daydreaming was a bit of a letdown. I dug the title track,Fishnet, and Sally. The rest was a snoozefest for me especially the useless A Man's Pride. Did someone mention the Guaranteed album? That cassette is steadily rusting in my attic. Don't laugh at my funk

Well,as you know, the previous Time albums only had 6 tracks on them Maybe he was trying to carry on that tradition with his solo album?

With a title like "A Man's Pride",I was expecting something amazing but yeah, that song wasn't very good. The album is a bore. The two Jam and Lewis tracks save it from being a complete let-down,but two tracks don't make an album, imo.

I never bought Daydreaming although I did really enjoy Color Of Success.
I think a post-80's Morris Day album just felt wrong to me. Is it a good album???

i have never heard all of daydreaming.
but knowing how much i like color of success it probably wouldnt be able to top it anyways. fishnet is raw but i have a special bond with the songs oak tree and love sign. You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

This is a tough question. Color Of Success is better overall, but I love the singles "Fishnet" and "Love Is A Game" more than anything from the first album. Even "Yo Luv" I remember being pretty good and the 12" remix of "Are You Ready" is slammin'. The non LP "Fishnet" b-side "Maybe" I liked a lot too. But those last two songs aren't on the album so if I were to go strictly by the LP tracklisting then Color wins by a nose, but if all the Daydreaming extras are included then I'd rather listen to that collection.

I say Daydreaming only because of Yo Luv and Fishnet. Those two tracks are killer. But also dig Color too.

I need Color of Success again. That Album was TIGHT all jams from to back. ( OFF TOPIC - It made me wonder if Prince was really coming up all those ideas. He has not been as funky as he was on those Time albums in some time)
Honestly I never heard Daydreaming all the way thru.Fishnet and Love is a Game That 'other' MD CD lets all pretend it was a cruel joke played by Warner Brothers on us

No pun intended i.e Rick James, Zapp/Roger, Atlantic Starr, Morris Day, Cameo. Morris's Guaranteed album was totally out there somewhere and Cameo's Emotional Violence was weak too. It is horrid at best

You know things were getting weird with Morris as not only he changed his sound but he got rid of the perm for a regular short hairdo. [Edited 1/14/10 15:06pm] Don't laugh at my funk
