I never would classify him as a diva. He may have diva attitude, but he is no musical diva.

Personally I think "DIVA" means something different to everyone else. I love listening to RuPaul's music because it makes me smile... it just makes me happy to listen to. It's uplifting. She's all about feeling good, and making you feel good. She may not have the voice/talent of Diana Ross, but I don't think it makes her any less of a diva.

To me, a diva is someone who knows what they want, knows who they are, and knows how their gonna get it, no matter what. And that's definately Ru!

Just my opinion.

DIVA

A diva (English pronunciation: /ˈdiːvə/, Italian: [ˈdiːva]) is a celebrated female singer. The term is used to describe a woman of outstanding talent in the world of opera, and by extension in theatre, cinema and popular music. The meaning of diva is closely related to that of "prima donna".

The word entered the English language in the late 19th century. It is derived from the Italian noun diva, a female deity. The plural of the word in English is "divas"; in Italian, dive [ˈdiːve]. The basic sense of the term is "goddess",[1][2] the feminine of the Latin word divus (Italian divo), a male deity.[3]

The male divo does exist in Italian and it is usually reserved for the most prominent leading tenors, like Enrico Caruso or Beniamino Gigli. The Italian term divismo describes the Star system

PRIMA DONNA

Originally used in opera companies, "prima donna" is Italian for "first lady". The term was used to designate the leading female singer in the opera company, the person to whom the prime roles would be given. The prima donna was normally, but not necessarily, a soprano. The corresponding term for the male lead (almost always a tenor) is "primo uomo".

Legendarily, these "prima donnas" (prime donne in Italian) were often regarded as egotistical, unreasonable and irritable, with a rather high opinion of themselves not shared by others. Although whether they are truly more vain or more hot-tempered than other singers (or than any other people in the opera houses) is not substantiated, the term often describes a vain, obnoxious and temperamental person who, although irritating, cannot be done without.

Famous prima donnas have often caused opera enthusiasts to divide into opposing "clubs" supporting one singer over another. The rivalry between the respective fans of Maria Callas and Renata Tebaldi, for example, was one of the most famous of all opera, despite the friendship of the two singers.

I have three. Miss Ross, Patti Labelle, and Tina Turner. The male diva award definately goes to Prince.I must give an honorable mention to Madonna, Janet, Mary, and Mariah. Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson are Divas in Training.
