I see "diva" as an adjective or pronoun that describes an entertainer that is glamorous and talented at the same time. To me, they capture the true essence of being a star. They have exceptional talent and expect the best from themselves and everyone around them. Yep, that pretty much sums my feelings about the word as well Strength also is a VERY essential factor when it comes to it. Tina Turner said back in the 80s that it took her 20 years to be called a "diva" and that nowadays(at the time) people throw it loosely.

Exactly... words frequently change their meaning with time and although diva at first was a term connected with opera, then it became what u guys are describing and now (as I understand it) it has three meanings: 1) very successful female performer 2) a person making absurd demands 3) a combination of the two refering to male performers

im sorry but i gotta say diana ross.
when you say diva 9/10 her image pops into your head because her legend branded her to that word. she also has an ENIGMA about her that makes her seem untouchable. and that is the ultimate quality of a diva to me. she cant be touched.

Not necessarily. That may come with the package, but they usually have the talent to back all of that up. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

neva had one up until Gaga, but she's deeper than a diva. diva's are cheap gimmicks. "Not to sound cosmic, but I've made plans for the next 3,000 years," he says. "Before, it was only three days at a time."

I love listening to RuPaul's music because it makes me smile... it just makes me happy to listen to. It's uplifting. She's all about feeling good, and making you feel good. She may not have the voice/talent of Diana Ross, but I don't think it makes her any less of a diva. To me, a diva is someone who knows what they want, knows who they are, and knows how their gonna get it, no matter what. And that's definately Ru! Just my opinion. I do nothing professionally. I only do things for fun. johnart: Acrylic's old bras is where tits of all sizes go to frolic after they die. Tit Heaven.

I feel ya, but to me, I think "Diva" means the person has to have the talent and performance ability to back up the attitude. I think Rue has ok music, but his music isn't as timeless as some of the other "divas" mentioned above. When people look back on artists like Diana, Patti Labelle, etc. They will describe how they "worked" the stage and how much they loved a certain song. That won't happen with someone like Rue. They'll just say something about his appearance and attitude. Never about his talent. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
