Motown legend Mary Wells biography on the way from same biographer who wrote Flo Ballard's bio

LOST SUPREME AUTHOR WORKING ON FIRST EVER BIOGRAPHY OF MOTOWN SUPERSTAR MARY WELLS

Following on the commercial and critical success of The Lost Supreme: The Life of Dreamgirl Florence Ballard (Lawrence Hill Books, 2008), Author Peter Benjaminson is working on what will be the first-ever biography of Mary "My Guy" Wells, Motown's very first female superstar. Anyone with insights or experience with the late superstar is invited to contact the author on the "Contact the Author" page on this site.

Yeah there's a lot of stuff we don't know about Mary. From reading parts of her bio, she lived a rough life. How was she able to find music success at all is remarkable considering her upbringing (she had spinal meningitis at 2 and struggled to see, talk and walk until she was about 6 or 7; she lived in a very poor Detroit street; and she was performing in nightclubs by 10). And then what happened after her Motown success, I'm actually astonished at her story. Marvin Gaye once said that Mary was a misunderstood and very shy, insecure person.
