Madonna working with Kanye West's DJ on next album

Singer is also working with David Guetta, and even Pearl Jam producer Brendan O'Brien on yet-untitled project.
By James Dinh

Whether it's her music, image or fashion, Madonna has always been adamant about change and reinvention throughout her career. Her new, yet-untitled album will be no different.

The singer, who is currently hard at work to deliver the follow-up to 2008's Hard Candy, has lined up a series of collaborators, including DJ A-Trak, David Guetta and Fernando Garibay, to help her with a new sound.

"It's my production, turned into song structure — halfway between rap and electronic and whatever else I listen to," DJ A-Trak told British newspaper the Daily Star.

Madonna isn't the only star to work with the DJ recently. A few months ago, A-Trak revealed that he and Kanye West were throwing out several new ideas for his upcoming album. "Kanye's taking a bit of time away from the limelight. But he keeps telling me all these ideas he has for songs and fashion bits," he told the Daily Star in November.

According to the newspaper, Madonna will also infuse some rock into her catalog by working with Pearl Jam producer Brendan O'Brien.

Another collaborator who has scheduled sessions with the Material Girl is David Guetta. When asked who would be his dream collaborator, the French DJ said Madonna remains at the top of his list. "I would love to work with Madonna," he told DigitalSpy.com. "It will probably happen very soon actually. It's all in the early stages and I'm not allowed to speak about it yet!"

Producer Fernando Garibay, who has worked with Britney Spears and Lady Gaga, has also confirmed his involvement with Madonna. When a fan asked Garibay on Twitter when he will work with the Queen of Pop, he tweeted, "Madonna coming soon."

Can't believe that even MTV is so unprofessional now that they are reporting this. At least they did post the real info about Guetta and Garibay. I wonder why the press is so eager for a new Madonna album now? This early buzz hadn't happened for like a decade!

Her last 3 or 4 albums were so boring, I can't imagine what she has in store for the next one. The problem isn't the 'sound' or 'direction' she's taking with each album, although honestly I can't tell the difference between the recent ones, but that the music is derivative and she doesn't sound like she's putting any effort into it.

So true. She hasnt sounded truly into an album since Music. On fansites people still rave about American Life being so underrated and one of her best, which prompts me every time to give it another try, and my reaction is always the same: how on earth did this album even get permission to be released? And although the two latest albums are definitely improvements song and production wise, her singing has gotten even worse. She NEEDS Patrick Leonard or some proper song writer back. Even though she used to write some childish lyrics, even just 10 years ago, she always pulled it off. The last 3 albums though have had me cringing. But I do think Confessions was a huge improvement on American Life and Hard Candy and even bigger improvement on Confessions, so hopefully this continues and her next album is even better.

Patrick Leonard was hardly helping her with lyrics, regarding the process of the Like A Prayer album, he said she gave her the music, which made her write the words. Most of the "new" songs Madonna writes, are her own words, regardless of who produced the track.

In fact Hard Candy is the first album in ages when she used real songwriters in bigger numbers than just 1-2 songs, since the Babyface/David Foster era, who actually helped in lyrics.

AL obviously got the permission because Madonna was in her "invincible" era and the success of Music/DTM allowed her to do another record with Mirwais. Those songs were her highest airplay hits of Madonna in the US since TAB/DCFMA so both her and Warner were confident staying in the same style would help.

As for "truly into it", I believe that comes down to personal preference. Madonna was not more into Music than any of the albums after it, in fact she found Mirwais later in the process so she scrapped "ROL part 2" done by Orbit and Sasha and quickly took some of Mirwais' demos, for example "Paradise" was a fully completed song when Madonna took her hands on it, and you know "Don't Tell Me" is basically a cover.

A-Trak dismisses Madonna collaboration

Pitchfork.com are reporting that A-Trak has dismissed the rumours that he is working with Madonna on her new album:
This week, reports have been circulating that DJ, producer, and onetime Kanye West sideman A-Trak would contribute production to the next Madonna album. Speculation started when A-Trak's buddy DJ Mehdi dropped the bomb in an interview with Dummy, and it's since spread.
But in a new statement, A-Trak debunks the rumor, explaining that Mehdi was just kidding the whole time.
A-Trak says, 'Those Madonna rumors started from a joke my boy DJ Mehdi made in an interview. Then it spread to Madonna fan-sites. Then the Daily Star fabricated a quote from me. Next thing you know it was on NME and MTV. I'm not opposed to the idea, but it's all fiction for now.

Producer Brendan O'Brien Not Working With Madonna

After rumors that Brendan O'Brien, who's known for his work with Pearl Jam,Bruce Springsteen and Rage Against The Machine, would be working on the new Madonna record circulated last week, the producer told HitFix that he's made no plans to collaborate with the pop star.

"No one has contacted me about working with Madonna," he said."Someone actually showed me something today that said Bruce Springsteen was going to fire me because I'd work with Madonna. It was awesome. It's really hilarious.I'm a huge fan of Madonna's but no one has talked to me".

Calling the web "bulls---",the Grammy-winning rock producer added that people shouldn't believe everything they read on the Internet.Instead of Madonna,O'Brien just finished working with My Chemical Romance and is now in the studio with country singer Faith Hill.

hmmm I'm relieved that this rumor isn't true.I'm not sure if a rock album is a good idea for Madonna.I don't mind the occasional rock-flavored dance tune, but it would be a huge risk for her to go all-out and do a rock album.

I'd rather that she stick with David Guetta for now, record a bunch of tracks with him and see how it goes.Later, she can decide what other producer(s) to bring on board, when she decides what direction the album will take.

The rock was always wishful thinking by fans, she had already stated it would most likely be electronic dance music. I'm sure she will find other DJs like Guetta.

Madonna in talks to open Grammy Awards
(Source: The Examiner)

Even though we are sick of having Madonna's crotch in our face all the time, we still cling to her because we know she is capable of making artistic comebacks. We are already excited about her new album that has rock producer Brendon O'Brien on board and a possible reunion with Like a Virgin collaborator Nile Rogers. But the excitement doesn't stop here.

We are told that Grammy producers asked Madonna to open up the award show this year.At first she refused because she had nothing to promote. However, her manager convinced her to perform a couple classics. If the talks go through,we will see Madonna performing a medley of "Holiday","Dress You Up" and "Frozen".Let's hope that the talks don't freeze like they did with Saturday Night Live last year.

Guess that's true, they probably didn't like Timbaland revealing stuff too early, including songs that didn't even make HC.

If you really want to know everything about him, he has a DVD called Sunglasses Is A Must (Kanye says it is boring). A-Trak's older brother is in Chromeo. A-Trak was the youngest ever Technics DMC World Champion at age 15 back in 1997. He was Kanye West's touring DJ earlier last decade. He now runs the hot electronic label Fool's Gold.

right, and while the lyrics are bordering on retarded lately (er, i mean "get stupid, get stupid," etc.) it's the non-existent melodies that are dragging the songwriting down. a beat is nice. but it shouldn't be the stand-in for a hummable tune on a pop song.

I think her songs were better when she started with a melody and then got dudes to find the chord progression for her and THEN build the beat.

The Guetta collaboration IS true:

http://idolator.com/53813...-interview

Guetta, who recently whipped up material for Madonna’s upcoming album, explains that what he loves about working with such varied artists “is that our music can reach people that are not even from hip hop or electro” scenes. “It’s just music that touches your soul.”

I’m now working on Kelly’s new album. I also have the new Madonna album coming up. So I’m very thankful to Kelly and Will and Akon—all those people who came to me when I was not big.

David Guetta is a great choice for the dance stuff that she wants to do,but I hope she brings in another producer for several tracks. How about some really great ballads this time around?
