Beyonce is the an all round entertainer so her talent cant be denied,however she does absolutly zilch for me when it comes to what she offers musically.
Solange with her last album shows a lot of promise & I think will be an artist to watch out for especially as she now is going the independant route. Beyonce is clearly the better vocalist but having a great voice does not always equate to classic/great material. Life has a way of making you live it. . . . | |

Solange doesn't have nothing to offerr to me, musically either.
But personality wise, I've seen her in Oprah with Chris Rock talking about Good Hair and the girl is a breath of fresh air esp in comparision with her passive, humanized mannequin, 1950s housewife throwback sister of hers. | |

I think Beyonce is a great entertainer, but unfortunately, with the exception of some of her first album, she wastes her talents on shit material. My favorite song of hers is her cover of "Fever", and if she did more work in that vein, I could get on board, but of course that's not what sells.
I give Solange props for attempting to do something different, but her songs honestly do nothing for me. I think she could benefit from some singing lessons, as well. | |

Love, hate or indifferent (and I've felt all three about different material and performances she's put forth), Beyonce has proven herself as an all around talented entertainer. She has beauty, stage presence and a powerful voice (which she needs to learn to pull back on from time to time). And she can dance and sing at the same time, imagine that!  My main complaint about Beyonce would probably be that she needs to take a break from being a singer (we know you got the chops) and learn to become a vocalist. Less belting (it's not as impressive when done every other verse) and more nuance.
I absolutely loved Solange's last album. I think it showed tremendous promise. The songs were funky and soulful (right up my alley), but I'd have to see her repeat this success a few more times before I could put her in front of her sister in a race like this. My personal taste probably leans more to the Solange side, but Beyonce will probably always be the superstar of that family. | |
