Apparently R&B has become supper club music pretending to be R&B. FUCK OUTTA HERE! That really sucks. flipped off to contemporary R&B. lol

I have talked to a few programmers and they all say the same thing. They all say a song doesn't fit their format. A lot of them had a hard time playing "Million Dollar Bill" from Whitney. They said it was too "disco" and too "club". It's one of the few songs that actually has tempo on Urban AC stations.

I know these thirty-something fools ain't saying that's too disco or too club. UGH! See that's why I haven't turn my radio on in ages! Fuck R&B radio! If I can call it that.

But they did wink Reason why it debuted on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart last week.
[Edited 1/1/10 21:56pm]

That's probably just add's mostly. Any word on the number of spins the song is getting?

According to AllAccess.com, the song only got one new add and that was WCCG in NC. They only played it once.

They also have it at number 41 on the Urban AC chart. It was 33 last week. The spins dropped by 65. Maybe it will increase in the next few days (since Christmas is over).
33 41 JANET JACKSON Make Me 92 157 -65 0.888

I'm not trying to hate, but Urban AC radio won't touch this song in a major market.

What they call R&B is what I don't call. So what they do know what they program as R&B. Anyway it is good that she's going for the dance audience.

Programmers seem to think that r&b is this neo-soul crap that has been popular for the last 10 or so years. If you look at the Urban AC chart (on All Access), you'll see nothing but slow songs.

Nah. I think "Make me" was throwin together in a day for the compilation album. Not meant to go anywhere on the charts nor radio. Just a song for her fans to enjoy till the album drops. I think the album is going to be deeper lyrically and production wise. Well, at least I hope so lol

She's not over 40 either. It seems that US radio programmers think adult urban ac means slow. They also expect u to make "slow" and "mid-tempo" songs after you turn 40.

Maybe she wants to do a greatest hits package later in her career.

hmmm Hey, maybe I should try to edit it from the Extended Dance Mix myself. Actually, I'm kind of surprised a fan hasn't done it already.

Modern R&B is almost unlistenable at this point. If Janet's next album is full of full of the energy in make me, it'll probly be her first album I'll buy in quite awhile. I don't know how Rhythm Nation hasn't been sampled millions of times.

The song? RN, the song, is built upon a sample.

LOL Homework! RN, and even the "Scream (Flyte Tyme Mix)" is based on Sly & The Family Stone's "Thank You".

And more for the record...
"All For You" sampled "The Glow of Love" by Change (with Luther Vandross)
the cello/strings breakdown in "IF" is from The Supremes' intro to "Someday We'll Be Together". The intro to "You Want This"? Listen to the opening of "Love Child" from Diana Ross. The list goes on.
