Them Crooked Vultures... anyone...?

Enjoyable... much too much like a Queens of the Stone Age/Desert Sessions album than I thought it would have been... Would have thought there may have been a bit more Foo Fighters/Nirvana vibe, but there you are... many marvellous moments on this long player.

3, 6, 10, 12 & 13... they're all very good biggrin

New Fang
Scumbag Blues
Warsaw...
Gunman
Spinning in Daffodils

Track 9 - Interlude with Ludes is, essentially, Era Vulgaris's tune... or, at least, track two's tune off that album... can't find it can't find the name...

Anyhoo... much of a Josh Homme album... marvellous, but now what I expected. Even Alain Johannes is on the record and Josh spends some of the time impersonating Mark Lanegan.

'Tis enjoyable, though.

I just picked this up on vinyl yesterday. You get a coupon for a free 320kbps download too. The reissue of Nirvana's Bleach came the same way. I hope more artist start doing this. I never liked just downloading an album because you do not get the liner notes or the artwork. I saw Them Crooked Vultures live on Nov. 19 and they were great. The songs sound good live. I had not seen Grohl on drums since Nirvana(1991). He is a beast behind the kit, and he was grinning from ear to ear. You can tell he is really enjoying playing with John Paul Jones. I must confess that part way through the show, I thought " This band would be the ultimate supergroup if it was Jack White instead of Josh." I apologize to the Queens Of The Stoneage fans but White singing and soloing with Grohl and Jonesy would be amazing. Yeah, I am a White Stripes fan.

The album is really good. I am digging the first track "No One Loves Me & Neither Do I."

Can't agree with that... It would be a marvellous band, but Homme and Grohl share a wonderful chemistry - as seen on many other ventures as well as this one... That said, White in a super with these other three would be a welcome addition.
