Van Morrison Not a Daddy but Victim of Hacker
64-year-old Irish singer says baby announcement posted on Web site a fake

LOS ANGELES - Van Morrison told an Irish radio station that his official Web site was hacked and that a statement posted on the site reporting that he had fathered a child with his manager was “utterly without foundation.”

In a statement to RTÉ's News at One on Thursday, Morrison, 64, said he has asked his management team to conduct an “immediate investigation” into the most recent attack, which occurred on Tuesday.

The bogus statement claimed that Morrison had fathered the child with his American manager, Gigii Lee. The statement said the baby, named George Ivan Morrison III, was “the spitting image of his daddy.”

In the statement to RTÉ, the singer said he is very happily married to Michelle Morrison.

Morrison, whose 45-year career spans soul, blues, jazz, R&B and country, has a 39-year-old daughter, singer-songwriter Shana Morrison, from his first marriage to Janet "Planet" Minto. Famed for such tunes as "Gloria" and "Brown Eyed Girl," he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 but declined to attend the ceremony.
