She's not a kid. If he can't talk through his problems with an 18 year old maybe he needs to learn how to better express himself. All these "that's just how black folk parent" responses are scary. If either of my folks had attacked me at that age I would have:
a) Kicked THEIR arse (I am a good seal taller than my Dad but now that I think about it even at 18 I would have been scared to hit him.) b)Disowned them. They wouldn't have got another sentence out of me til they got down on their knees and apologized. You don't get through to head strong rebellious young adults with FORCE, you just push them away.
