Pavement Reunion!!!!

Who???? Yeah, kiddo's.....we're talking about Pavement, the most influentual indie rock band of the 90's! 'Huh, wasn't that Nirvana?' Wrong, without Pavement there would never have been Nirvana! Kurt Cobain himself was a big fan.
Pavement in 1989, after a few EP's they released their official debut 'Slanted & Enchanted'. The combination of Stephen Malkmus' original lyrics and singing and Scott Kannberg (Spiral Stairs)'s guitar sound proved to be an inspiration for many so-called indie-/alernative rockbands during the 90's, they are said to be the inventors of Lo-Fi, a style adopted by many, i.e. Beck.
'S&E' was succeeded with 1994's 'Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain', which contains the bands only small commercial success, 'Cut Your Hair' and 'Goldsoundz'. Pavement always stayed underground, true to their indie-roots. In 1999, after the release of 'Terror Twilight' the band called it quits. Scott Kannberg formed Preston School of Industry, Malkmus formed his own band The Jicks and continued his collaboration with the Silver Jews.

Now they have announced a reunion tour in 2010. Tickets are being sold out fast, many fans of true indie rock are anticipating to see their heroes live again!

Any fans here on the org???

Loved them in the 90s. Bought everything and saw them a bunch of times.

And then for most of this decade, I just kind of forgot about them, mostly because I was so disappointed in the Malkmus solo stuff. But I dug some of the albums out recently and was amazed how good they still sounded. I"m kinda kicking myself for not getting tickets to the NYC shows.

I only liked the first two of Malkmus' stuff with The Jicks, he lost me after then and I'd just put on some good ole'Pavement.....yes, their music does stand the test of time, I always enjoy it! I have tickets for their show in Amsterdam coming May.....can't wait!!!
