Good thing that I have great places to buy stuff from close to me. I can probably buy nearly all of the original 7' singles for less that $50 biggrin

I gave-up on Prince a while ago. It became impossible around the time of the NPG Music Club. I couldn't get a credit card due to my bad credit rating at the time; pre-paid credit cards hadn't yet been invented - and they wouldn't accept PayPal.

looking through my favourites list, I think I only have complete collections for the following.

Pernice brothers/Joe Pernice/Scud Mountain Boys/Chapaquiddick Skyline
Grant Mclennan
Feelies
The High Llamas
Eric Matthews

Most of these acts only have a few releases, so having their complete discography is really no great accomplishment.

Even when I was at my peak of nerdy record collecting, I was never the type who had to have every album or weird import or b-side. To this day I still have gaps in my Dylan & Fall collections (my two favourites - I own far more records by them then any other acts). The Dylan albums I have to buy (Knocked Out Loaded, Saved, Empire Burlesque) are so dire that it's hard for me get enthusiastic about parting with the money, even when I see them on sale at Amazon, but I'll probably finally follow through in the new year when we get our bonus. I truly want to plug the few missing links for the Fall, but a few of their records have become quite rare. I'm holding out hoping for reissues. If they never come, then I'll just pay the premium on e-bay.

Prince - I have everything except for that track he did on that Penguin soundtrack and the track he did on the "Bamboozled" soundtrack. I don't want those songs either. I don't have some of those remixes he did in recent years either.

Rick James - I have everything except a few extremely rare 12 Inches that I never knew existed.

The Time

There's not too many in which I have their complete collection because when they sellout, I refuse to buy the sellout album. If the family of Rick James releases another album that sounds like the last one they released, I won't be buying it. And if Prince fucks up like he did on "MPLShit", I won't be buying it either so I'll no longer have complete collections of either artist. But as it stands right now, my collection is pretty complete from both of them. lol

The Barkays go all the way back to the 1960s. I don't think I could find all their albums even if I tried. I have a "Best Of" CD of when they were on the Stax label. I mainly bought it to get the song "Holy Ghost" because their Stax material sounds way different than their Mercury material. When they were on Stax, they did mostly instrumentals and just had a different feel altogether.

I have all their Mercury albums except for maybe one or two from the 1970s which I'm still looking for. I also can't find that 12 Inch of "Do It (Let Me See You Shake)" which I couldn't even find back when it was still in style. I wouldn't have even known it existed if I hadn't heard on a Memphis station back in the day, WDIA (which I used to be able to pick up real late at night). The Barkays are from Memphis and were still living there which is probably why they pumped it up in Memphis. I also don't have their last two albums from the 2000s which I purposely didn't buy. Andy don't buy no sellout stuff if he can help it. If they want to sellout, my money won't help them be successful (which they aren't going to be anyway these days). lol

How did I forget about Sylvester? As of a few months ago, I now have all his stuff except for the albums when he was with the Hot Band but I do have a "Best Of" CD of that era though.

No, I meant the songs they recorded in the early 70s before they got signed,,,,I don't think those songs are accessible. Couple of ones in youtube, but thats about it.

I think there is an album or 2 floating around. I think I've seen them in used record stores for a pretty penny. I thought u were referring to their Capital input (which was pre-WB).

No. They were with Capitol up until "Live in LA". Then they went to WB and released 2 albums and has appeared on one soundtrack (The Brothers)
