What are your thoughts on honorific titles in popular music?

I'm just curious as to what are your thoughts on honorific titles in music. Some titles I think are indisputable like the King of Pop, King of R&B, Godfather of Soul, Queen of Soul, etc. Some are just unnecessary. Do you think it's important?

Here's a list of honorific titles given to artists http://en.wikipedia.org/w...ular_music

King Of Yacht Rock: Christopher Cross cool

Some titles were just copy and paste:

Ashanti's and Ciara's were definitely fake. But James' and Aretha's and MJ's are commonplace.

King of Rock & Roll should actually be KINGS of Rock & Roll. There was more than one.

I forgot what was their honorific title? I remember their camp dubbed them princess of something when they debuted their first album lol I think it's cute that some artists go by their honorific names so no can't dispute it.

I thought Ray Charles had a title

The Emperors of Soul are The Temptations

I wonder who's the King of Funk; George Clinton, Bootsy, Sly Stone, Rick James, Roger Troutman
