I think you guys need to realize that Prince suffers from a phobia against any profitable marketing strategy.

This just seems like a stunt that nobody in Rage Against the Machine came up with, and probably didn't know about until it was almost over.

They could've chosen any song.

Stunt or not,,,,,the cold blooded fact remains that they generated alot of intrest and in result hit a pot of gold(Prince's main ojbective) which is more than I could say about him these days.

U can do this with anything, if U get enough of HATE towards one thing you can pull it off and thats what it really was in the end, im sure on both sides people were buying 20 copies just to make a point, adn could care less about either song. I mean they did this with DISCO in 1980, people hated it so much that they took over a baseball stadium and blew up records and set them on fire, i mean RADIO stations had "BeeGee Free Weekends" organized by radio people, could U imagine if someone TRIED that shit today on Beyonce or someone who has the monopoly, it would never happen because someone has to get paid, and thats why nothing was made of this RAGE vs COWELL incident (except here) because sony raked in $$ as did both parties, including Facebook, and advertisers etc...so the rich got richer

What about it sounds pretentious? He is just stating the fact that people made the difference and downloaded an 18 year old Rage song instead of the same old overproduced cookie cutter music machine shit that Cowell represents. I think it's just great! I guess that makes me a dick to.
